The show “Squinches and Pendentives” was held in UAI’s large gallery space which allowed the artists to really showcase their styles. The space allowed Ben to build his impressive and self reflective installations/sculptures. Swoon also did her part and effortlessly integrated her always touching figures into Ben’s complex urban-themed installation. It was a fun night as […]
We stopped by the Kinsey/Desforges Gallery in Culver City a couple weeks ago on a night of chock full of openings. Entitled “After the Gold Rush,” the show featured paintings and abstract structures as well as sculptural representations of deconstructed buildings made from found materials. T-Minus 2 days til the doors open on Baby Tattooville 2009 and we were able to get you sneak peeks from two more artists which are going to be a part of this weekend extravaganza. First up is Liz McGrath, a lady with a talent for finding the beauty in the “grotesqueness” of life. Where we see a dark street corner with unsavory creatures of the night, she sees an alternate perspective where imagination and craftsmanship brings to light artistic gems. Above is her work […]

Looks like Stella Im Hultberg (interviewed) has been working through some ideas recently for her upcoming show “Penumbra” alongside Amy Sol (teased) in November at Copro Gallery. Stella’s versatile showing at Thinkspace Gallery in July left her many options to pursue, but this new show, tentatively speaking, will probably focus on works on paper and perhaps wood. Also, as if Stella and Amy weren’t enough, Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed) will be showing concurrently with them. More images from Stella and showcard after the jump…
