We recently picked up a copy of “vna,” a beautiful A5 sized publication and enjoyed the content so much that we thought we should share the information here for those who may not have come across it yet… “vna” documents UK street art through some of the best photographers out there capturing this ephemeral work before it disappears, and serves as a great record preserving all the best work put up on the streets.  Issue 9 looks bigger and better than ever, with 100 full colour pages showing work […]
AM is excited to bring you one of the best solo exhibition previews of the summer. Ryan McGinley returns behind the lens with his young models who spurn the annoyances of clothing to explore exotic, unknown, and undiscovered locations. Their voyeuristic adventures were documented and will be shown in September in a highly anticipated show that features 24 brand-new (28 total), never before seen photographs at Alison Jacques Gallery in London. See the complete set of photographs from the show after the jump.
Looks like the Os Gemeos took time after hitting up New York with an epic mural to paint one of the bathrooms at the Montana Colors offices. If only we could hit the lotto and have the Brazilian twins get up in the AM offices as well. Via Montana Colors. Discuss Os Gemeos here.
Hera of Herakut (interviewed) just posted this new video to her blog on Juxtapoz. She made it with Rusk of Maclaim. We love Hera here at AM and can hardly imagine a more artistic blog post. Discuss Hera here.
This Friday in San Diego, Kelly Vivanco returns after her highly successful solo outing at Thinkspace in Los Angeles. Subtext welcomes Kelly along with the up and coming Jason Limon. The botanical aspects in both artists’ work seems to be one of the main unifying themes in the show and their works play off each other nicely. Definitely a show to catch if you’re in the San Diego area this weekend. Subtext rocked things with their recent Comic-Con weekend only show and this is a […]
AM stopped by Gallery 1988 in LA a couple days ago to attend the Travis Louie’s (interviewed) book signing. His book “Curiosities,” released by Baby Tattoo Books & Galley 1988, chronicles his paintings from the last several years and of course, the stories that go along with it. As usual, Travis was more than happy to sign and sketch for his fans as well as showing off his unbelievable calligraphy skills. He also brought along some mini-paintings and sketches for sale. More pics after the […]

Street artist Judith Supine (studio visit) has been traveling all over New York City, painting the town green with a mix of awesome imagery and street pieces that are fantastically placed. Hitting up the city’s top spots and even going into uncharted territory (read: NYC’s sewers), AM can only speculate that Supine is getting his name out there in preparation for his solo show at New Image Art later this year. Check out the rest of Judith’s recent street pieces after the jump…
Carmichael Gallery is showcasing some ladies with a unique view on things in their latest show. “A Mirror Distorted” features Andrea Michaelsson (one half of Btoy), Cherri Wood, Pam Glew, and the dazzling details of our favorite South African transplant Candice Tripp (interviewed). The show runs from August 6th to August 27th. Check out the sneak peek after the jump.
Take a look at this stunning new painting from Joe Sorren entitled “The Secret Collapse of Miss Loraine.” He explains it as his “micro-take about an apocalypse for this one girl, her world being suddenly being interrupted by unknown forces (the phone call)” It will be printed in the next issue of BLAB! for the theme of The Apocalypse with the original available at the annual “BLAB!” show at Copro Gallery, opening August 8th. Other artists participating in this show include Alex Gross, Jeff Soto […]
Last Thursday evening, AM was on hand for visual artist Ellis Gallagher’s (interviewed) first solo exhibition in his native NYC entitled “Ocular Echoism: The Autonomy of Ellis Gallagher.” The show was curated by Kimberly de Los Angeles of the de L’autonomy Mission at the multilevel Collective Hardware Gallery in the Bowery. We were lucky enough to be there for the installation all week and to share some pics of the fun with you. More about the show, all the photos from the installation/opening and a […]

To mark the closure of “Scratching The Surface”, Vhils’ successful solo exhibition at Lazarides Rathbone place (covered here and here), a special limited edition book of the same name will be released, as well as three Laz-exclusive hand-finished prints. Each of the full color, 80 page books has been signed by Vhils. We love the laser-cut front cover and look forward to taking a peek at […]
