Streets: Eine in SF (Part II)

Who rocks the hardest? Apparently, Ben Eine does, among other things as he’s painting up San Fran in conjunction with his show that opened last weekend (covered). Not only was he working on his signature shutter typography all around town, he’s also was getting up select phrases.  Take a look at the video and more pics from Skate Legs Magazine after the jump…

Streets: Blu & Ericailcane (Bologna)

No stranger to collaborations (see Nuart), not to mention both being automatic invites to any serious street art event, Blu and Ericailcane have teamed up for another piece – this time in Bologna. We should see more from these two Italian artists as the weather heats up and outdoor painting season starts again. Discuss Blu here. Discuss Ericailcane here.

Streets: MOMO in London

Following a brief stint alongside Brad Downey and Vhils in Lisbon, Portugal as part of the ongoing and impressive Crono project (featured here and here), MOMO arranged a short stay in the UK before heading back earlier this week to his latest base in security-challenged New Orleans. For want of a more appropriate euphemism, it was an interesting few days at the AM London residence. The artist’s arrival overlapped with a visit by Christian Coinbergh’s “Gang of Three” from Stockholm – the latter in town […]

Outdoors: POW WOW ’11 – Walls & Luau

The POW WOW wasn’t only an indoor affair. Being in Hawaii, the gang took full advantage of all that the beautiful tropical atmosphere had to offer. An entire side of the building (across from Fresh Cafe) was secured for the artists who quickly put their street game facse on. Prime, Wu Yue, 123Klan, Will Barras, Meggs, and Ekundayo grabbed their spray cans to work under the Honolulu sky. The end product was dynamic murals created so that the local art fans could enjoy for years to come. […]

Streets / Video : Mear One in Los Angeles

Mear One just finished up a brand new mural on Glendale Blvd. in Los Angeles. Building on themes typical of his work, and set in one of his expansive allegorical landscapes signature to his style, the piece depicts a young girl on the street huddled under a blanket, while surrounded by an oil field in a toxic wasteland. “It’s about innocence that’s been lost and how the world has ruined the future of its children and left them stranded in a cold barren and destroyed […]

Streets / Teaser: Ben Eine – “GREATEST” @ White Walls

Ben “Eine” is currently in San Francisco preparing for his show “GREATEST” at White Walls set to open on March 12th. In conjunction with the exhibition, the London-based artist will be be painting his signature typography on various walls around the city, with plans for each letter of the alphabet to be represented (reminiscent of his recent alphabet street project). More photos after the jump…

Streets / Video: Vhils x Orelha Negra – M.I.R.I.A.M.

Looks like Vhils went all Cai Guo-Qiang on us with this new explosive video collaboration with Orelha Negra. The Lisbon-based artist appears to have increased his already versatile bag of tricks to get his works up on the walls for this music video for M.I.R.I.A.M. from the Portuguese instrumental hip-hip band. In a world where street art is expected to be temporary, with his techniques, Vhils is making his mark and making it damn near permanent. Take a look at some photos of the work […]

Streets: Banksy – “Oscar Tour” (Los Angeles) Part IV

Banksy continues beautifying the streets, and inducing the hysteria of greedy landowners and construction crews, in the Los Angeles area (Part I & Part II & Part III) as a build up to the Academy Awards this Sunday. Located right around the corner from USC’s main campus, Kite riffs on the illegal immigrant caution signs riddling the southern California freeways around the Mexican border area. This Looks A Bit Like An Elephant (after the jump) on the other hand cleverly substitutes wall space for a […]

Banksy x Simpsons (Part II) and Oscar Update (Part III)

After taking a brilliant turn as the director of the Simpsons’ opening sequence, Banksy returns as a reference in the last episode (22×14) as a timely tag backstage as America’s favorite animated family makes an appearance at the Oscars. Speaking of which, several other pieces (including one that made grown men fight) have popped up since we showed you the first two stencils in Los Angeles. We’ll see if he has what it takes to win the award for best documentary come this weekend, but […]

Streets: JR (Los Angeles) Part II

As we reported earlier, French street activist and photographer JR is continuing his assault on the walls of LA since starting with a mural in Venice last week.  LA weekly is following his progress in bringing his “The Wrinkles of the City” to Socal on their website (map) and this is the latest piece at Barracuda in Melrose. This newest project will lead in nicely to the TED Prize award show on March 2 (live streaming) where he will reveal his “wish.” Discuss JR here.
