Our friends at Brooklynite Gallery are having an auction to raise money for the Haitian Orphanage - Chances For Children. They put together some nice pieces from artists such as Guy Denning, Miss Bugs, Beejoir, C215, Eelus and K-Guy. You can check out the pieces and bid here. With 100% of the proceeds going directly to the orphanage, it’s a definite win-win for all who participate in this very charitable event.

Logan Hicks
Renowned stencil artists Logan Hicks (interviewed) and C215 opened their joint show “Parallel Unverse” at Show & Tell Gallery last week. For their first show in Canada, the NY based Hicks brings his familiar architectural inspired cityscapes and Parisian artist C215 once again channels emotions from the human subjects he favors. Interestingly enough, the two friends will had some collaborative pieces as well (previewed).

In anticipation of his coming group show with Logan Hicks at Show & Tell Gallery (previewed), our friend Butterfly met up with C215 aka Christian Guemy to visit his new studio in the neighborhood of Vitry-sur-Seine of Paris. The tour was followed up by a cool street session where C215 worked the neighborhood. The ever creative urban artist stenciled his new surroundings and worked to create pieces representative of his trips from all around the world.
More after the jump.

We last saw Logan Hicks’ (interviewed) and C215’s work together in a gallery just last week in London at the Green Day art show at StolenSpace (covered), which Logan curated and featured C215’s work. Next stop on the world tour sees the two stencil artists together for a joint show at Toronto’s Show & Tell Gallery. Whilst using similar techniques and output mediums, the two artists’ subjects are worlds apart - Logan is renowned for his urban landscape based work, whilst Christian is best known for his figurative pieces.
Entitled “Parallel Universe,” this show sees Logan and Christian working on some collaborative pieces and also using each other’s work as inspiration for their own - for example, the image we teased you with earlier this month (also after the jump) by C215 was based upon one of Logan’s photographs.
Take a look at a few more preview images after the jump.

Mike Dirnt
AM just got back from the opening of Green Day’s “The Art of Rock” show at London’s StolenSpace gallery (previewed), the night before the band starts a run of sold out dates on the UK leg of the 21st Century Breakdown Tour.
Logan Hicks (interviewed) curated the group show, which consisted of 18 pieces of art inspired by the lyrics of the new album. The participating artists were M-City (Mariusz Waras), Meggs, Peat Wollaeger, Pisa73, Ron English (featured), Sadhu, Sixten, The London Police, Will Barras, Adam (5100) Feibelman, Broken Crow (interviewed), C215 (Christrian Guemy), Chris Stain (interviewed), Component, Dabs (Myla), Eelus, Jeremiah Garcia, Lucamaleonte, and of course, Logan Hicks.
Each artist received the lyrics to a track, but not the tune itself, and produced a piece of art inspired by Billie Joe’s words. Read on for our pictures from the opening and details of a giveaway after the jump.

Chinatown
Just coming off the opening of his solo show in Paris, C215 is already getting ready to conquer another country. This time, he is collaborating with another stencil master, Logan Hicks (interviewed), for a show in Canada at Show & Tell Gallery. Opening November 6th, “Parallel Universe” will no doubt showcase the strengths of both artists, their complex stencils.
A closer look after the jump.

Prolific French street artist C215 (Christian Guémy) recently opened a show at Galerie Pierre Cardin in Paris, returning to his roots after showing in the UK at the Signal Gallery (covered) and at a special collaborative project at the old Bridewell Police Station. Included in the exhibition are his signature stencils featuring portraiture of people of the streets - the homeless, beggars, orphans, animals, and victims of neglect. The body of work includes pieces on wood, paper, and found objects and conveyed a versatility of media that has given him a mastery of “placement” that all street artists strive for. It seems that Christian is able to “get up” anywhere and on anything, as evidenced by his frequently updated flickr stream.
Take a look at more pics from the show after the jump.

AM has been watching French stencil master C215 (aka Christian Guémy) cut through the noise of derivative copycats since 2006 and we never cease to be impressed. Something must be happening in France since JR (covered) is probably the only other street artist traveling as much and doing street work in as many interesting locations. Both artists use their very different techniques to capture people who are often overlooked with powerful impact.
Last night in London, C215 opened his first ever UK solo exhibit “Shoeshiners” at the renowned Signal Gallery, continuing to bring us the masses with a message. See all the pics after the jump…

One aspect of street art that is particularly attractive is the social commentary that can accompany each piece in meaning and placement. Two artists that have shown interest in bringing attention to different political causes are C215 and Bruno Leyval as evidenced by some of their Tibetian themed art (covered).
For the show “Justice,” they have teamed up with three other artists (Dan23, Least Wanted and MC1984) in a concept show at Long Arm Gallery based on themes of Law and Order that they have been committed to for the past three months. Featuring site specific installations, photography, prints, stencils and a range of new original work, the show is made all the more powerful with its placement within the oppressive environment of the old Bridewell Police Station.
Check out all the pics after the jump.

C215
Intrepid photographer Romanywg recently captured photos of hardworking french street artists C215 and Bruno Leyval getting up near the Cargo Club in London’s East End. They worked on adjacent walls painting & stenciling some amazing Tibetan scene murals. In progress pics as well as shots of the completed walls after the jump.
