Jonathan Chapline recently unveiled a unique exhibition entitled Virtual Window, which was staged at the Hawkins Ferry House, built to display the namesake’s collection of modern art on the shores of Lake St. Clair. A couple weekends ago, the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (with support from Library Street Collective) opened a new show from art superstar KAWS. Entitled ALONE AGAIN, the exhibition features five large scale companion sculptures and three paintings displayed on a special mural painted by the Brooklyn-based artist. Utilizing his signature bold colors and abstracted pop imagery, the paintings really stand out against the 62-foot black and white snoopy-esque backdrop. Tomorrow (May 10th) at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, a new exhibition from KAWS will be opening to the public. ALONE AGAIN will occupy the museum’s main space and feature five sculptures, three paintings, and a site specific work from the Brooklyn-based artist. Last weekend in Detroit, Revok opened his latest solo show at Library Street Collective featuring selections from three distinctive bodies of work – his Instrument Exercises, Tape Loop Paintings, and Spirographs – along with some self portraits. Entitled depersonalization-derealization, the exhibition makes use of his graffiti roots but repurposed, oftentimes with custom tools for creating large scale abstract canvases. For the fourth edition of Murals In The Market, anamorphic street artist Leon Keer recently finished a piece entitled Urban Colonization.
