Last weekend in Detroit, Revok opened his latest solo show at Library Street Collective featuring selections from three distinctive bodies of work – his Instrument Exercises, Tape Loop Paintings, and Spirographs – along with some self portraits. Entitled depersonalization-derealization, the exhibition makes use of his graffiti roots but repurposed, oftentimes with custom tools for creating large scale abstract canvases. The title refers to a type of dissociative disorder, something that Revok experiences with the constant numbing onslaught of horrific news and media overstimulation. He further states – “I think the work […]

Painted on a decrepit building around Detroit’s Eastern Market, the wall featuring the Dutch artist’s considerable 3D skills (aided with some sculptural additions aka painted tires) deals with some of the controversy surrounding the city’s water drainage rate or “rain tax.” He states – “Seems like the water shutoffs and massive drainage charge in Detroit has been set up to seize poor people’s homes and land to […]

Currently at the Library Street Collective in Detroit, Margo Wolowiec has a show on display featuring her “#rosegarden” series of works. She references social media for her imagery, taking the photos she finds through hashtags and geotags and then using a sublimation dye process to transfer them onto groups of threads which […]
