Releases: Finok – “Afogando Mágoas (Drowning Sorrows)” Print

A few days ago, Raphael Sagarra aka Finok self-released his latest limited edition. Combining giclee and silkscreen, the Brazilian artist produced Afogando Mágoas (Drowning Sorrows) in an edition of 140 + 20 AP’s. The image is a classic example of Finok’s signature works – using dominating green tones, he mixed traditional elements from Brazilian folk art with his playful graffiti-based characters. Depicting a bottle with a face drowning inside surrounded by 5 golden suns, the edition was created on Hahnemuhle 188g  cotton paper measuring 35 cm x 25 cm (13.7 x 9.8 inches approx), and is […]

Showing: Finok – “Sorrir e Chorar” @ Galleria Patricia Armocida

Galleria Patricia Armocida is currently showing the Italian debut show of young Brazilian artist Raphael Sagarra aka Finok. Sorrir e Chorar looks like his most accomplished exhibition to date, including various styles of works that show his seemingly endless creativity and diversity. Through his previous shows, the São Paulo-based artist was working with different mediums to blend his imagery with different familiar and mostly traditional objects. Rebuilding a traditional Brazilian Botecco bar or reusing children toys such as Pipas and Baloes, he always found a great way to apply his aesthetics with existing concepts. In his […]

Studio Visit: Finok

Brazilian artist Finok aka Raphael Sagarra recently let us have a peek inside his home & studio in Sao Paulo, to have a look at some new paintings he’s been working on recently. The young artist got introduced to the art world on the streets of his city back in 2002 when he noticed some kids painting graffiti in the street. He was intrigued by this creative illegal activity and quickly got into the “graffiti game” himself. A few years later he became part of the infamous Vlok […]
