German art duo, Herakut, recently opened their solo show Flaw Circus at Ruttkowski;68 Gallery in Cologne, on the 29th of August. Only a few months after working on projects in Syria and North Jordan, Hera and Akut put together a show that speaks to the social & political issues around the globe and the way they’ve experienced them. Influenced by graffiti and street art culture, their visual language is a emotive mixture of everything from text and handwriting, expressive sketch-like elements, surrealist scenery and characters, to almost photo realistic […]

With the return of our Streets: World Roundup feature, we first want to bring your attention to a new mural from Blu in Sardinia, Italy. The wall he painted once again showed his skills with large-scale imagery while working around architectural features of his surface. Also, the upside down toy soldiers are consistent with the Italian street artist’s penchant for politically charged public works. Other worthy walls come from Ernest Zacharevic – US, Satone – Germany, Seth – Puerto Rico, Bordalo II – Portugal (source), […]
From the 15th till 19th of August, gallery Ruttkowski;68 in Cologne will be showing the new works from this year’s MyFinBec project. This year’s lineup included VHILS from Portugal, Herakut from Germany, C215 from France, and Etam Cru from Poland. In every instance, eight different labels were painted on stacks of 84 crates each. The stacks make a 2 x 3 meter surface for the artists, and with […]

It’s been a while since our last Streets: World Roundup so it’s time to revive the feature where we share a summary of some recent art from the streets. On Saturday night, November 9th, artistic duo Herakut will be opening a new show at the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco entitled Don’t Look At Me. The collaborative acrylic and spray paint works on canvas from Hera (interviewed) and Akut often exude a raw and emotionally charged feel to them and mirror the German artists’ creative output on the streets. Rounding out the show will be a 6 x 10 foot canvas suspended from the ceiling as well as a large-scale installation. Discuss this show here. Discuss Herakut […]
