Streets: World Roundup (Aug 1 – Sept 11)

With the end of another week of summer (good weather for outdoor mural painting), it’s time for another Streets World Roundup. Leading things off are these two murals seen above from Shok-1 and Marina Zumi for the Lollapalooza Berlin Festival. The public art is part of a program put together by Urban Nation to beautify the area up for the festival goers’ enjoyment as part of their art pavilon DREAMSCAPE. Other recent notable walls come from Bordalo II (Aruba), Sabek (Aruba), Seth Globepainter (China), Atlas (Russia), Aryz […]

Street: Herakut (Los Angeles)

Leading up to the opening of their solo show this weekend at Corey Helford Gallery, Herakut painted a new mural featuring their signature mix of photorealistic and abstract elements. The new piece on the side of the gallery was painted next something Ron English put up and you can definitely see that what they chose to paint was partially in reaction to that. More photos below… Photo credit: Birdman Photos. Discuss Herakut here.

Upcoming: Herakut – “Masters Of Wrong” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Looking forward to next month, German duo Herakut are opening a solo show at Corey Helford Gallery entitled Masters Of Wrong. Combining beautifully the raw and abstract forms of Hera (interviewed) with the photorealistic spray paint skills from Akut, the new work of course mirrors their thought-provoking imagery from the streets. Take a look at some more cropped teasers below and add the March 26th opening to your calendar. Discuss Herakut here.

Streets: Herakut / Project 256 (Paris)

Project 256 is a unique non-commercial campaign that launched several days ago in Paris. By combining street art and digital technology, the innovative project aims to ease some of the suffering of people that call those same streets their home. The concept of this campaign is based on creating a portrait of a homeless person in the public space. The artist then adds a unique QR code next to the work, which leads to a video of an interview with the homeless person as well as […]

POW! WOW! ’15 / Streets: Akut

Working on a slightly smaller section of the same wall as Doze Green (more on this later), Akut from Herakut, finished his large piece for POW! WOW! Hawaii (more coverage here) after 3-4 long days of work. Usually working as a part of duo, German-based artist had to find a way to paint this large piece by himself. This situation also inspired him to create an image of a wrestling toy man, feeding a small baby through a bottle completed with the text “my real challenges were outside of the […]
