Openings: “This Side of Paradise” @ Andrew Freedman House

What do you with a historic welfare housing complex (for the formerly rich) in the Bronx? Why not invite artists to come in and redo the rooms? In a project called This Side of Paradise, they invited artists such as Daze, Crash, How & Nosm, Cheryl Pope, Cope2 and many more to work on this landmark building and to create site specific interactive works that reflect the ups and downs of [...]

You may remember some photos that Futura sent us that we shared with you last month painted for Art Wynwood. Here are now some photos of them hung up along with some bonus looks at an installation by Ron English. Check it out after the [...]

Streets: How & Nosm @ LA Weekly Building (Los Angeles)

After recently completing an impressive murals in the heart of Downtown LA (covered), the prolific brothers known as How & Nosm returned to Los Angeles for another go around. This time however, they decided to paint the exterior of the LA Weekly building. Although this project is not quite the same size as last time, this mural is perhaps more detailed and more layered. What’s really unique is also the way in which the duo decided to use the building’s layout as part of the [...]

A couple nights ago, the Primary Projects space in Miami’s Design District hosted Here Lies Georges Wildenstein, a group show featuring Marc Bijl, Retna, Michael Vasquez, Miru Kim, Cleon Peterson, George Sánchez-Calderón, Manny Prieres, Andrew Nigon, Scott Shannon, Christina Pettersson, Shelter Serra, How & Nosm, Kenton Parker, Cole Sternberg, Edouard Nardon, & Jel Martine. The reference to the death of Wildenstein is metaphor for the “old money” powering the art world along with “the mass of collectors, curators, museum trustees (those who wield considerable socio-political powers)” over [...]
