Currently in Hong Kong, Mark Ryden (interviewed) has a striking new sculptural piece on view in the foyer of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Releases: Mark Ryden – “Snow Yak Ornament”

Tomorrow (November 20), Mark Ryden (interviewed) will be releasing something that might come in handy when you start setting up your Christmas tree. The Snow Yak Ornament was created with 3D printing and is a sculptural reproduction of one his most recognizable characters. Releases: Mark Ryden – “Princess Praline and Her Entourage” Print

With his upcoming New York show featuring artwork from the ballet (covered) he worked on with the American Ballet Theater opening on May 20th, Mark Ryden (interviewed) will also be releasing an associated print on May 19th. Princess Praline and Her Entourage looks to be an image taking from some of Ryden’s concept art from his set and costume design work. The print will be produced in a run of 1000, measuring 13.5″ x 39″, and will be priced at $250 (a portion of the proceeds will benefit the American Ballet Theatre). Head […]

On May 20th, Mark Ryden (interviewed) will be opening a solo show in New York featuring artwork from the ballet (covered) he worked on with the American Ballet Theater. Entitled The Art Of Whipped Cream, the exhibition at Paul Kasmin Gallery will feature drawings, sketches and paintings made during the production of Whipped Cream. The opening will coincide nicely with the New York debut of the ballet at the Metropolitan Opera House on May 22nd where the giant of the Lowbrow Art Movement designed the backdrops, props and costumes. With his major retrospective still showing in Spain (covered), Mark Ryden (interviewed) has unveiled a side project he has been working on for quite some time. For the past year, the American artist has been busy designing the costumes and sets for a new ballet called Whipped Cream by renowned choreographer Alexei Ratmansky for the American Ballet Theater. Last week, Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga (CAC Malaga) in Spain hosted the first museum retrospective from Mark Ryden (interviewed) entitled Cámara de las Maryville. On December 16th, Mark Ryden (interviewed) will be opening a major exhibition at the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga (CAC Malaga) entitled Cámara de las Maravilla. (for which a replica of the invitation was recently release as a print) Translated as House of Wonders, the exhibition will be the first museum retrospective in Europe for the man known as one of the giants in the Lowbrow art movement.
