Last week, Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga (CAC Malaga) in Spain hosted the first museum retrospective from Mark Ryden (interviewed) entitled Cámara de las Maryville. For those who have seen the exhibition, it certainly has been a House of Wonders with the plethora of small and large-format canvases, drawings, dioramas and sculptures on display for all to enjoy. On December 16th, Mark Ryden (interviewed) will be opening a major exhibition at the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga (CAC Malaga) entitled Cámara de las Maravilla. Tomorrow morning (November 21st) at 8am PST, Porterhouse will be releasing two editions from Mark Ryden (interviewed) featuring the image from his Queen Bee painting. The first one (seen above) is a replica of the announcement for his upcoming Cámara de las Maravillas exhibition at the Contemporary Art Center of Málaga in Spain. Featuring a laser-cut frame adorned with gold highlights, the edition is sized at 11″ x 7-1/4″, produced in a run of 200, and will cost $100. On October 15th, Mark Ryden (interviewed) will be opening a show at Hidari Zingaro, the gallery of Takashi Murakami who has been a long time fan of his work. Diversiform will only be an exhibition of rare editions from the veteran of the lowbrow movement, but will give fans in Tokyo a rare opportunity to see his imagery in person. From March 24-27, shortly after closing their cake-themed installation and special programing (covered), Think Tank Gallery in Los Angeles will be hosting the sequel group exhibition to 2014’s Cat Art Show. Over 70 artists including Mark Ryden, Marion Peck, C215, Adam Wallacavage, Tim Biskup, Kozyndan, Luke Chueh, Brandi Milne, Natalia Fabia, Travis Lampe, Cyrcle., Jean Pierre Arboleda (seen above) and Edwin Ushiro will be contributing pieces inspired by their feline friends. Those who followed our coverage of Baby Tattooville last year probably remember one of the prized possessions attendees received during the event – a plate designed by Mark Ryden (interviewed). Featuring his iconic imagery, the “Surrealist Plate” was used during the special dinner prepared for the Surrealistic Ball (covered) he hosted with Marion Peck on the final night.
