On May 20th, Mark Ryden (interviewed) will be opening a solo show in New York featuring artwork from the ballet (covered) he worked on with the American Ballet Theater. Entitled The Art Of Whipped Cream, the exhibition at Paul Kasmin Gallery will feature drawings, sketches and paintings made during the production of Whipped Cream. With his major retrospective still showing in Spain (covered), Mark Ryden (interviewed) has unveiled a side project he has been working on for quite some time. For the past year, the American artist has been busy designing the costumes and sets for a new ballet called Whipped Cream by renowned choreographer Alexei Ratmansky for the American Ballet Theater. Last week, Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga (CAC Malaga) in Spain hosted the first museum retrospective from Mark Ryden (interviewed) entitled Cámara de las Maryville. Tomorrow morning (November 21st) at 8am PST, Porterhouse will be releasing two editions from Mark Ryden (interviewed) featuring the image from his Queen Bee painting. The first one (seen above) is a replica of the announcement for his upcoming Cámara de las Maravillas exhibition at the Contemporary Art Center of Málaga in Spain. On October 15th, Mark Ryden (interviewed) will be opening a show at Hidari Zingaro, the gallery of Takashi Murakami who has been a long time fan of his work. Diversiform will only be an exhibition of rare editions from the veteran of the lowbrow movement, but will give fans in Tokyo a rare opportunity to see his imagery in person.
