As you saw in our first teaser article, Mark Jenkins (interviewed) has been busy in Rome working the streets and preparing for his show at Wunderkammern opening this Saturday night, March 17th. This exhibition, Living Layers, will no doubt feature much of the work that has been popping up around the Italian city and leaves us excited to see what the opening holds. On the 17th of March, Wunderkammern in association with MACRO (Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Roma) will be presenting the first Italian solo exhibition by Mark Jenkins (interviewed), a continuation of the Living Layers project. This comes on the heels of his first solo in Germany (covered) in January and again will feature his skill with urban interventions and the reactions of the viewer to the unexpected. After a showing in Amsterdam last November, LUDO (interviewed) continues his exploration of his Nature’s Revenge theme with a new exhibition in Rome. Opening its doors to a new body of work last weekend, Wunderkammern Gallery was taken over by the Parisian street artist’s vengeful creatures in the form of his ad interventions, sculptures, paper pieces, and pastes over found objects. Dorothy Circus definitely picked the right artist for their 5th anniversary show in Joe Sorren (featured). The Flagstaff-based artist will be present five new luminous paintings collectively entitled In A Garden Where, with the public opening set for October 8th in Rome. Streets: Ericailcane (Rome)

Not to be outdone by fellow compatriot and frequent collaborator Blu, street illustrator Ericailcane also headed out on his own to work on some solo murals. This new wall in Rome was painted in the Laurentino 38 neighborhood, a downtrodden area that has seen some restoration projects in recent months commissioned by LabUrba. Hopefully, we’ll continue to see more from “Eric the Dog” throughout the rest of summer. It’s been a while since we’ve covered anything in Rome, but today that changes. Gagosian Gallery brings one of today’s most important artists to the historic city with eight new paintings by Christopher Wool. The silkscreen and enamel large works on linen feature Wool’s signature gestures and technique. On top of the silkscreen foundation, Wool employs stenciling, rolling, dripping, dragging, and spray-painting.
