Releases: KAWS 4FT Dissected Companion – Black

For KAWS collectors who follow the elusive and highly coveted 4 foot companion series, (here & here) it’s been a forgone conclusion that the final 4ft black dissected companion would be released. The real question was when? Well, it’s just been confirmed that the final dissected companion (black) of the 4 foot series will be released December 19th at the Original Fake Tokyo flagship store. Openings: HK Venture (Part I) – Ashley Wood

Well-known Australian comic book artist and illustrator Ashley Wood recently headlined a group show in Hong Kong. Our HK correspondent Andy Li was on hand to take some pics of the “HK Venture” also featuring toys and figures from Threezero, Kenny Wong, Colan Ho, and Mak Siu Fung. Releases: CheTrooper Bust by Urban Medium

Urban Medium recently released a whole new colorway series of their long sold out CheTrooper Bust. Standing at 7.5″, these vinyl sculptures are limited to only fifty pieces per colorway and are expected to sell out quickly. If you are near Pasadena tonight, you might want to stop by the Switcheroo x Flopdoodle Holiday Party put on by Tim Biskup, Amanda Visell, and Michelle Valigura. Openings: Tim Biskup – “I Hate Everyone But You” @ De La Barracuda

Friday night saw the opening of Tim Biskups’ “I Hate Everyone But You” exhibition (previewed) in Melrose at De La Barracuda. Featuring paintings, sculptures, prints, and toys from the creator of the Helper, the comprehensive show was enjoyed by all. Preview: Doktor A – “Freak Machanique” @ Lift Gallery

Doktor A, who is considered by many to be one of the pre-eminent “customizers” out there, is opening his show “Freak Machanique” tonight in Detroit. Ron English (featured) and Secret Base have a special treat for your Halloween celebrations. They have teamed up to to produce a limited edition “Super Size Me” figure from English, but this time, a Halloween skeletal edition.  The figure comes in two colors and will be available from Armth. Openings: Joe Ledbetter – “Birds & Bees” @ Artoyz (Paris)

After moving from London to Amsterdam, Joe Ledbetter hit up Paris for the third leg of his European Amalgamation Tour (details here). This time, with a show at Artoyz entitled “Birds and Bees,” Joe once again brought a new body of work including paintings, sketches, prints and a special colorway of his Terror and Magnus toys. Openings: Joe Ledbetter – “Shock and Awe” @ London Miles Gallery

Joe Ledbetter kicked off his “Amalgamation Tour” last week at the London Miles Gallery.  During this five city European event, Joe will be showing at five different galleries in London, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, and Istanbul (details here).  For his UK fans, he brought a mostly new body of work which encompassed paintings, drawings, prints, and various art products – including the release of the European variant of his new Terror and Magnus toy. Baby Tattooville ’09: Buff Monster

One thing that Baby Tattooville attendees definitely noticed this year was the fact that they received much more original art to take home with them.  Last year, there seemed to be more “art products” given out, ie prints, art toys, etc… That is not to say that they aren’t appreciated, especially the hand customized figures by Buff Monster for this years BT.  Throughout the weekend, Buff Monster could be seen working on the toys as well as sketching for fans.  You will also soon see […]
