You know the saying: “All good things must…” Well, after almost 8 fantastic years as the cover artist for the ground breaking comic series Fables, James Jean has finally completed his last cover for Vertigo/DC marking the close of a chapter in his astonishing career as an illustrator. But don’t worry, judging by the tremendous success of his first gallery show “Kinding” at Jonathan Levine last month (here), we’re positive that he’s destined for even bigger things as he starts his career as a “fine artist.”

As we previously reported (here), all the Fables cover art duties will be passed down to his successor, Joao Ruas going forward. Take a look at the step-by-step creation of his final cover after the jump.
