On our recent trip to Denver to see Josh Keyes’ “Sprout” exhibition, AM met with Jason Thielke, who’s latest solo show entitled simply “New Works” opens this Friday, July 17th at the new downtown location of the David B. As has been reported on several websites and confirmed by Dominique Perregaux, owner of Art Statements Gallery, French street artist Zevs has been arrested for “bombing” a Chanel logo in Central, Hong Kong.Â He was apparently demonstrating to the residents of HK his famous technique ahead of his aptly named show “Liquidated Logos” at Art Statements Gallery this Thursday night. AM has been very impressed by Vhils’ first UK solo show “Scratching The Surface“, which recently opened at Lazarides Rathbone Place. A video has just been released which documents the artist’s process of installation in the gallery. This past weekend we previewed the work from â€œStages,â€ (announcement video) the collaborative art project betweenÂ Lance Armstrong andÂ Nike Sportswear opening tomorrow atÂ Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin. To promote the exhibition, Lance commissioned a series of custom artist-designed bikes that he has been riding during various stages of theÂ Tour De France. Openings: Yumiko Kayukawa – “God from the East” & Ben Tour @ Joshua Liner Gallery

Over the weekend, AM attended the opening of two shows at New York’s Joshua Liner Gallery. In the front gallery was Yumiko Kayukawa’s “God from the East,” which consists of a new collection of small- and medium-sized paintings. Kayukawa’s work blends modern and traditional aspects of Japanese culture with a colorful, playful style.Â In gallery two, Vancouver-based artist Ben Tour is exhibiting a selection of dark and free-flowing portraits of women on canvas and paper, as well as a large-scale mural. All of us here at AM are big fans of Josh Keyes’ work, and after our recent trip to Denver for the opening of his latest solo show “Sprout” at David B. Last week, we brought you some images of the beginnings of an epic mural that the Brazilian brothers Os Gemeos were working on in NY. Here is a video of how it looks at about midpoint. Here is the amazing and unprecedented collaboration piece between Amy Sol (interviewed) and Greg “Craola” Simkins (interviewed) for this year’s Crazy 4 Cult show at Gallery 1988 (LA). This tribute to “The Neverending Story” is one of the many stunning pieces for this annual exhibition celebrating cult movies. Dash Snow R.I.P.

Rumors have been circulating all morning about the untimely passing of NYC artist and Downtown scenester Dash Snow. Unfortunately, the New York Times online has just posted a blurb with confirmation from Snow’s grandmother that he died last night of a drug overdose. He was 27 years old.

Studio Visits: The Clayton Brothers
