Releases: Scott Musgrove – “The Late Fauna of Early North America” Box Set

The ever-so talented, Seattle-based artist Scott Musgrove balances his time retracing forgotten animals of generations past and reincarnating those extinct creatures with masterful precision at the easel. For those hunkering for some Musgrove goodness before his 2010 solo show at Jonathan Levine, we have just the thing. A recently released Limited Edition Box Set of his newest book, entitled “The Late Fauna of Early North America,” gives life to the lost species of yesteryear in super swanky fashion. As we reported a while back when we focused on Robert Longo, he has a very nice retrospective currently being held at the MAMAC in Nice, France. The comprehensive retrospective houses many of his iconic pieces from his expansive body of work over the last 20 years – from his renowned charcoal on papers to sculptures to photographic installations.Â For those who can’t make the trip, he recently posted up some images from the exhibit, which we also posted after the jump…

Releases/Collector’s Focus: Audrey Kawasaki – “Saying Goodbye”

Audrey Kawasaki is releasing a limited edition print from her most recent show in Japan (covered) today. This amazing image titled: “Saying Goodbye” will be available today (8/22) at 3pm PST on Audrey’s website here. The edition size is a scarce 200 and will be available with or without the premium frame. The print measures 18″x22″ with a price of $220 (unframed) and $480 (framed). Sixeart opened his debut solo show in Sao PauloÂ at ROJO artspace POP last Tuesday, August 11th. As we previously mentioned, opening tonight in Seattle is “Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Monster,” Travis Louieâ€™s (interviewed) solo at the esteemed Roq La Rue gallery.Â The artist will be in attendance to chat with fans as well as sign his new book “Curiosities” like he did in LA recently and in SDCC.Â On display will be his portraiture mix of wild-haired intense women and distinguished monsters in Victorian guise. Auction: Polaroid Collection via Sotheby’s

Now that the Polaroid Corporation has gone into bankruptcy, it leaves behind a legacy not only in your fond childhood memories of snapping away your day’s activities without a care, but also in an important collection of instant photographs by some of the best artists of the 20th century.Â In an effort to raise money to pay their creditors, that collection will soon head into auction courtesy of Sotheby’s, with the remaining pieces to be sold via private sales.
