FAME Festival: Sam3

We are always happy to see more photos from FAME Fest. Here is a new selection of pieces by Sam3. Check out that great Ericailcane piece from last year’s event peeking out from under the arch as he works! One of the shows we are looking forward to this month is Shawn Barber’s solo at the Shooting Gallery in SF. His show, entitled “Tattooed Portraits: Snapshots,” will no doubt draw on his work experience and include honest portraits of tattooed patrons as well as tattoo artists. We love the way he transfuses a sense of motion to his paintings, like the piece seen above, and can’t wait to see what he has in store for this exhibition. Take a look at this nice interview […]

AM recently swung through the Merry Karnowsky Gallery to take in “Gameland,” the debut Los Angeles solo show from Chilean artist Victor Castillo. Castillo was in town from Barcelona (where he now lives) for the opening, and he filled all the rooms of Karnowsky’s beautiful space, really showcasing the various characters all have come to love in his work. Damien Hirst will be exhibiting 25 new paintings (created from 2006 – 2008) at The Wallace Collection in London, opening on October 14th. Streets: Faile – Update on the Second Spinning Prayer Wheel

As expected, theÂ second spinning prayer wheel installation from Faile was stolen off the streets of Williamsburg a few days after we posted about it. Strange thing is that after disappearing for a few months, the prayer wheel resurfaced earlier this week a few blocks away from its original location with a few tags and some paint added to it. AM had the pleasure of attending the opening of Crazy 4 Cult 3D show at Gallery 1988 (LA) a couple weeks ago. The 3rd installment of the wildly popular group show again brought together some of our favorite artists to reinterpret some of the most addictive cult films of all time.
