In the land of summer gallery group shows, there are a few that we mark our calendars for and Joshua Liner Gallery hosts it annually. Entitled Summer Mixer, this group exhibition showcases new talent making their debut with the gallery. An excellent selection of artists consisting of Andrew Schoultz, Erin M. Streets: Phlegm (Norway)

Phlegm was recently invited to Norway by Urban Samtidskunst and Galleri Lauritzen to paint a large mural in the old industrial town of Moss. After being forced to take some time off due to neck problems, the Sheffield-based artist created a groundbreaking piece on many levels. The mural was painted on this massive 25x35m wall of an old paper factory that was shut two years ago. Nestled deep in the foothills of the Cascades, Casey Weldon paints diligently to finish up several pieces for his solo show Novel Relic, opening at the Roq la Rue Gallery in Seattle on August 7th. It doesn’t happen often that Greg “Craola” Simkins (featured) grabs a spray can, but when he does, he usually creates something exceptional. After not painting walls for quite some time, his newest mural, which he recently finished in Los Angeles, is definitely an example of that. Mexican artist Edgar Nández aka Saner, opened his first museum solo show on June 20th at the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Luis Potosí, introducing over 25 new works. On August 7th, Flatcolor Gallery will open A Second, Christopher Derek Bruno’s (interviewed) return to the Seattle showspace with a solo exhibition of new works. As is often the case with public murals when released into the streets, local writers will add their own “opinions” directly onto the works. This is what happened almost immediately to the Jeff Soto (interviewed) wall that was painted in South Central last week (covered) as you can see above.
