Dutch artist Daan Botlek has recently moved to Germany and after a few weeks of life in one of the street art’s capitals, he picked up his tools and went painting in public again. Openings: D*Face – “Honestly Dishonest” @ Above Second

During Basel HK week, another major show we hit was from British artist D*Face (interviewed) at Hong Kong’s Above Second Gallery. Presented by Coates & Scarry, the solo entitled Honestly Dishonest featured 18 fresh works focusing on society’s increasing appetite for information. D put together layers of the commercial output which bombard our minds on a daily basis, creating something new and different in and of itself. The sold out show was filled with Basel week attendees and fans. Next, we’ll bring you some of the outdoor murals he created while he was in town. Discuss D*Face here.

Releases: Borondo – “Identity” Print

After scratching, spraying and painting his recognizable mark on walls, windows, bus stops, and under bridges around London and other parts of Europe, Borondo just finished working on his next print. In collaboration with StreetArtNews.net, he is releasing this limited, hand painted/drawn screen print. This Friday night, the newly renovated Ace Hotel in Los Angeles will be hosting a screening of Takashi Murakami’s debut movie Jellyfish Eyes. The live-action feature film, the origins of which Murakami dreamt up over 10 years ago, will be shown at the historic theatre at the downtown hotel. Streets: Pejac (Spain)

Spanish artist Pejac (featured), recently created this fantastic new outdoor piece in his hometown of Santander in Spain. More of an intervention than just a painting, this piece is called Wallcanvas and was created as a tribute to Lucio Fontana and his cut-off paintings. In the same manner that the infamous Italian artist was creating cuts in canvases, giving the material a mysterious sense of illusion and depth, the creative Barcelona-based street artist did something similar with the rough concrete wall.
