Curated by our friend Suitman, Public Fair No. 1 brought together a diverse mix of talent hailing from different countries around the world to deliver a multi-sensory experience. Included were artists Cody Hudson, Sticky Monster Lab, Hito Zuki and of course Suit himself. There seem to be something for everyone to get into from inflatable sculptures to rendered videos, photographs to custom figurines, and even an 80 […]

ADAA ’12: Yoshitomo Nara – “Works on Paper” @ Pace Gallery

Several months ago at the ADAA Art Show, we caught some new work from Yoshitomo Nara as he made his solo fair debut with Pace Gallery. The entire booth was filed with a variety of Nara’s signature works on paper. Lined up by time periods, attendees such as Damien Hirst and some of New York’s top collectors visiting the booth got a chance to see some of Nara’s older works and understand the progression to the current blue-chip stage of his career. Discuss Yoshitomo Nara […]

Art HK ’12: Rei Sato – “All Monsters Hold Secrets in Their Grasp” @ Kaikai Kiki

Another booth we spent time at during Art HK was the one stocked by Takashi Murakami’s Kaikai Kiki gallery. Their booth held a solo feature for Rei Sato and her latest body of work entitled All Monsters Hold Secrets in Their Grasp. Much different than the light sculptural installation which we saw her create for the Guggenheim’s Peter & The Wolf, Rei this time showcases her signature works which feature photographs expanded on canvas, which are then painted on. As sort of an artwork on top of […]

Openings: COPE2 – “Resilient” @ Dorian Grey

Bronx street & graffiti artist COPE2 recently opened up a new show at New York’s Dorian Grey Gallery. After seeing his signature bubble tag style at recently at exhibitions & on the streets, we check COPE twisting it to bring a different look by focusing less on his famous tag for his indoor works and a little more on the street element with his aerosols. Check out all the opening night action below. Discuss COPE2 here. Photo credit: Joe Russo for Arrested Motion. Check out more from Joe […]

Releases / Studio Visits: Dave Kinsey, Ron English & TrustoCorp editions by Static Medium

We’ve been busy getting ready the past few weeks for our City of Fire exhibition opening that happens tonight in Beverly Hills. While exhibiting fresh artwork from some of our favorite artists may be the point of this group show, but we also remember that the foundation of many collections are rooted in fine art editions. So in celebration of this opening we have worked with Dave Kinsey, Ron English and TrustoCorp to create a unique series of limited prints for the AM readers. Part […]

Art HK ’12 Art Fair – Adam Neate @ Elms Lester

One of the booths we quite enjoyed at Art Hong Kong was the Elms Lesters showing with Adam Neate (interviewed). As we have stated many times before like at his exhibition last October in the UK (covered), AM is quite enamored with the street turned contemporary artist’s dimensional paintings. Judging from the response from fair-goers, we weren’t the only ones who felt that way. Discuss Art HK here. Discuss Adam Neate here.
