Openings: “Hookers” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Last weekend, the Corey Helford Gallery played host to the opening of the Natalia Fabia (interviewed) curated show Hookers. With the theme in mind, her artist friends including Kent Williams, Michael Hussar, Phil Hale, Erik Sandberg, Saber, REVOK, and more created pieces for the show that showed a diversity of mediums and range of artistic vision. Openings: Jaybo Monk @ Soze Gallery

Last week, the Soze Gallery was proud to present the work and first L.A. exhibition from Jaybo Monk. Titled Silent/Listen, this show unveiled a number of paintings in which the artist fused an interesting style of portraiture, collage, and linear perspective. Streets: JR (Los Angeles) Part V

During the past week, JR (featured) has been hitting the L.A. streets with his signature photographs while at the same time continuing his “Wrinkles In The City” campaign (covered here, here, here and here). On this busy art weekend, one of the highlights will be the new exhibition from German duo and streets artists Herakut. Last time we caught up with them, they were wrapping up their amazing show with the Lucent Dossier crew. Openings: “When Herakut Met Lucent” @ The Palace Theater

Last weekend, German street artists Herakut teamed up with circus troupe Lucent Dossier for a performance at the legendary Palace Theatre. The two day event, dubbed appropriately When Herakut Met Lucent, incorporated the duo’s artwork in with the talents of all the performers creating an incredible experience of bringing their signature characters to life.
