Streets: Bezt // Etam Cru – “The Sleeping Knight” (Las Vegas)

Last week in Las Vegas, Bezt from Etam Cru painted a lovely new mural entitled The Sleeping Knight for the Life Is Beautiful Festival. Curated by JUSTKIDS, artists from all over the world came to leave their mark on Sin City including one half of the Polish street art duo. Painting a boy asleep in church juxtaposed by the stain glass image of a knight in armor slaying a dragon, one can almost imagine the dream he must be having. Discuss Etam Cru here. Tomorrow night (September 30th) in London, the preview for the Jamian Juliano-Villani solo show will be opening at the non-profit gallery Studio Voltaire. The New York-based artist’s work is an bizarre amalgamation of popular culture and appropriated material, reinterpreted through the lens of her warped vision which can oftentimes make the viewer uncomfortable and yet intrigued at the same time. Entitled The World’s Greatest Planet on Earth, the exhibition will be the American artist’s first solo presentation in a public institution outside of the US and will include never before exhibited sculptural installations […]

The new body of work will be a continuation of the American artist’s case studies of everyday work vehicles – the more imperfections, signs of age, and graffiti – the better. As is his usual practice, Cyr spent time documenting and then painting his subject matter while telling their story through his art. Discuss Kevin Cyr here.

Streets: Cleon Peterson // Nuit Blanche Paris @ Eiffel Tower

Following in the footsteps of Shepard Fairey (featured) of creating art at the Eiffel Tower (covered), Cleon Peterson has done something Mr. Obey has never had the opportunity to do – painting the first mural ever directly below the famed monument. Created for this year’s Nuit Blanche in Paris (organized by Palais de Tokyo), the piece is entitled Endless Sleep, a reference to the famous late-night cultural festival. The circular piece features the Los Angeles-based artist’s signature figures inspired by Greco-Roman frescos sans the usual provocative imagery. Discuss Cleon Peterson here.

On September 29th, The Goss-Michael Foundation will be presenting the inaugural solo exhibition at their gallery on Wycliff Avenue in Dallas, Texas.
