Upcoming: Jeff Soto – “The Sotofish Society” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

On September 10th, Jeff Soto (interviewed) will be returning to Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York for another solo show. Entitled The Sotofish Society, the exhibition will see the Southern California-based artist re-exploring some of the past elements of his work including yetis, reapers, robots, landscapes, antlers, geometric shapes, and of course the iconic Sotofish! Streets: Deih // North West Walls (Belgium)

Recently during the Rock Werchter Festival of Belgium, Deih was invited to paint some stacked metal storage containers for the North West Walls event. Working well with the unique painting surface, the Spanish street artist chose to create some of his signature otherworldly comic-inspired imagery with an upside down character. Upcoming: Scott Listfield – “LAX” @ Gallery 1988 East

After a showing in London (covered), Scott Listfield’s next exhibition will open in Los Angeles on July 15th entitled LAX. The solo at Gallery 1988 East (7021 Melrose Ave) will feature four groups of paintings – The Lost Treasures of Bowie, Close Ups, LA Nights, and The Ruins. Showing: Dabs Myla Viacom Times Square Installation

Recently in the Viacom building (1515 Broadway) at New York’s Times Square, Dabs Myla created a new installation open to the public featuring sculpture, painting, wallpaper, and hand crafted objects and furniture from Modernica. As the fourth installment of the Art At Viacom program, New Cosmic is an immersive takeover by the husband and wife duo influenced by the design aesthetic of the 1950s as well as a recent trip to JantarMantar, an ancient temple dedicated to the study of Astrology in India. Upcoming: Kris Kuksi – “New Rome” @ Mark Moore Gallery

Tomorrow night (July 9th) in Los Angeles, Mark Moore Gallery will be presenting new sculptural assemblages from Kris Kuksi. Entitled New Rome, the exhibition will be the Kansas-based artist’s second showing with the gallery which will once again highlight his “hybrid style of baroque and rococo that deeply examine the human psyche.” The complex sculptures, sometimes over 10 feet wide, are painstakingly put together using things like figurines, model parts, collectibles, craft parts, and jewelry. Previews: Camille Rose Garcia – “Phantasmacabre” @ Corey Helford Gallery (Part 1)

On July 16th, Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles will be presenting new works from Camille Rose Garcia in their main space. Phantasmacabre will be her first solo in LA since 2011 and will feature her gothic fairytale-like imagery that has become increasingly dark in her recent work. The locally-based artist’s mash up of subject matter is a result of her experiences growing up in Orange County and the associated visits to Disneyland and punk shows as well as vintage cartoons and William Burroughs’ cut-up writings and surrealist film.
