Last night, Michael Kohn Gallery hosted the opening for local graffiti artist RETNA (featured) and his solo show featuring New Paintings and Works on Paper. Both the outside and inside of the gallery were transformed by the MSK-affiliated writer with his urban hieroglyphics in the form of paintings on the interior and with his script directly on the exterior walls of the showspace. The new body of work spanned the diverse twists and turns his work has taken through the years – from the strong regimented monochromatic calligraphy to the embellished […]

Streets: World Roundup (Sept 10 – Sept 16)

Headlining our Streets: World Roundup this week is a rare extraterrestrial piece from Invader. After a failed attempt last month, he has finally lived up to namesake and invaded space with his tiled works. Launching from Miami, Florida where he is preparing for his next exhibition, the French street artist was able to send his imagery into orbit with a helium balloon fitted with a camera to document it (and GPS to retrieve it). Other murals to admire on earth this week include work from Inti – […]

Last weekend in New York, the Last Rites Gallery hosted an opening for David Stoupakis (above) and Matthew Bone (directly below) as they unveiled all new paintings. Stoupakis’ dark imagery was apparent as Ashes To Sorrow explored somber fairy-tale like settings rendered beautifully by the locally-based artist. Bone brought a set of works collectively entitled Raised By Wolves with him that combines his love for pop culture and girls, apparently the more drenched the better. More opening photos below… Discuss this show here.
