Previews: “Pop Surrealism” @ Carandente Museum in Spoleto

Rome’s Dorothy Circus Gallery and New York’s Jonathan Levine Gallery have joined forces to bring together some of the biggest names in the new contemporary scene for a museum exhibition in Italy entitled “Pop Surrealism”. The exhibition is to be held in the Umbrian town of Spoleto at the Carandente Museum from June 26th until October 15th 2010 with the opening tying in with the town’s annual arts festival – “Festival dei 2 Mondi“. Joe Sorren’s (see our studio visit) new piece above, entitled “Portrait […]

Preview: Michael De Feo – “Mining for Splinters and Diamonds” @ No Borders Art (Hong Kong)

New York will be wishing Michael De Feo Bon Voyage this week as “The Flower Guy” prepares to open his first solo exhibition in Hong Kong. New York Magazine has previously listed his artwork on the streets as one of it’s “reasons to love New York,” featuring his flower motif on its cover. Hopefully, De Feo has some time to bring some beautification to the streets of HK whilst he is around (without getting arrested) for the opening of “Mining for Splinters and Diamonds” at […]

Video: Agents Of Change 0.3

Remember the huge wall installation that Agents of Change put together in Manchester last month? Well, the interesting trailer that AoC put together directly after the painting event, which they coincidentally live streamed via their website, has now been turned into a finished film. Each of the Agents – LXOne, Derm, Remi/Rough, System, Juice 126, Steve More and Timid took a section of the mural and incorporated their own individual stylings into the larger composition, created as part of the Future Everything Festival.

Streets: Vermin & Jago – Moon Street Mural

We were impressed by this recent collaborative mural on Moon Street in Bristol, put together by Mr Jago and Vermin when we saw these pictures of the wall coming together from Mike Dring of Art-El. The two artists had not met before the planned day of painting, but they seemed to hit things off with this well composed and cohesive piece, which blends their styles with great effect – just check out some of the 3D details they achieved. More flicks and a video after […]

Teaser: Remi/Rough & Jaybo – “No Beginning, No End” @ Galeria Nuble

As soon as the paint dried from Remi/Rough and Jaybo’s ProjectRoom (covered) event with Juice 126 last week, the pair’s attention turned to their two person exhibition “No Beginning, No End” at Galeria Nuble in Santander, Spain, opening tonight (Thursday, June 17th). Long time friends and collaborators, Remi and Jaybo will be bringing some more live painting installation fun to the gallery alongside a series of new works on canvas, where they are now putting finishing touches to the pieces for the show. If you’re […]

Interviews: Rowdy – The Rooftop Burner Fund Auction

AM heard some sad news a couple of weeks ago that Burning Candy member Rowdy lost just about everything he owned in a fire that destroyed his home and painting studio. Rowdy had popped out of his flat in Bristol for a short time only to return and find the building engulfed in flames. In a moment, everything was gone – even one of his most prized possessions, this piece of sartorial elegance, the psychedelic church sweater seen in the picture above sent onto us […]

Releases: D*Face T-Shirts

D*Face (interviewed) sent us these great pictures taken on a warm and sunny day in London last week by photographer Viktor Vauthier. What better way to spend an afternoon than with a couple of girls armed with super-soakers? You can bet that we wouldn’t look quite so good in one of these new tees just released in D’s store, but at least we might feel good, as both shirts are made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. According to D*Face, the bottles are stripped of their labels […]

Studio Visits: Joe Sorren

It’s fun when your artistic heroes turn out to be as cool as you want them to be, and through all of the love we’ve given to Joe Sorren over the last couple of years, you know that AM was thrilled to visit the artist in his Flagstaff studio last year. Joe took us through his huge studio space where he has a painting area, office, library, drying room and a practice space for his beautiful upright bass he plays in his roots / bluegrass […]

Streets: D*Face skate ramp

Last weekend, AM got the call from D*Face that he was up to some mischief in London, so hopped on the train to go and see what his latest project involved. Remember we showed you the pool D*Face painted in LA last year? What we got was a similarily was great piece of pop-street art fusion here in the UK. D was recently commissioned by skate company REAL to create the artwork for three of it’s riders – Brock, Busenitz and Ramondetta – new signature […]

Showing: Armsrock – “Drawn Towards The Present” @ Signal Gallery

Danish artist Armsrock (interviewed) opened his solo show “Drawn Towards The Present” with London’s Signal Gallery last week. Ever willing to push the boundaries and try out something new, Armsrock filled the gallery with huge charcoal pieces on rice paper, suspended around the gallery with thin wire trace. The work is viewable from either front or rear due to the delicacy and translucency of the paper – the pieces nearest to the window being especially effective as you can observe the world going by through […]
