Our friends at Paper Monster have been working long and hard on a very special print by Tomokazu “Matsu” Matsuyama (interviewed). Entitled Running Even Deep, the print involved a 23-layer screenprinting process using oil based inks, as well as giclee, on thick deckled-edged paper. In addition, every one of the very limited edition of 50 has been uniquely spray-painted by Matsu himself. Aiko Nakagawa just reported yesterday that her Lady Butterfly sculpture is nearing completion. The complex piece produced by Tomenosuke Sho-ten requires assemblage of 13 little components and features elements of her iconic imagery. We’re suckers for a great idea and also impatient when it comes to waiting for the delivery guys. So after posting about the KAWS x Standard Light Bulb Set, we headed to The Standard NY to cop this hot collaboration. Upon arrival, we were excited to see the shop already had the bulbs nicely installed. Even in the daylight the glowing XX’s were apparent from the dangled housing.
