Matt Small’s long awaited solo show “Youngstarrs” opens at Black Rat Press on Friday, March 27th. Small has developed a unique style of portrait painting which he uses to acknowledge and passionately celebrate individuals on the outskirts of society who are typically ignored or routinely demonized by the media through no fault of their own. Small’s following has been building for some time and this show features a new body of work on salvaged metal and concrete as well as some canvas pieces – definitely […]
Banksy is at it again. This time, he’s created a new piece to be auctioned off for another charity event. The NNLS auction is actually an “undies” auction where celebrities literally donate their “bottoms” to raise money for the charity at hand. Sir Banksy managed to find another creative way to donate undies to the cause without revealing his waist size by remixing his “Very Little Helps” image that he revealed last year at POW’s Open Day (covered). He used a stencil of “Union Jack” […]
Award winning photographer Chris Anthony is back with a new series of works hosted Corey Helford Gallery opening March 28th. The show entitled “Venice” is set to a theme where the world is submerged in an icy, overcast, and flooded landscape. Think of intriguing subjects shot and showcased in a dreary “Waterworld” setting. Breaking into the scene and hitting his stride as a photographer of gaudy rock bands while just a teenager, Chris then took some time off after “retiring” at the age of 17 to direct music videos and commercials. […]

From the looks of things, this show is vintage […]
Japan’s Mizuma gallery made quite a splash at this year’s Armory, selling out most of the art they imported from the land of the rising sun. As usual, their booth was filled with some of Japan’s notables: Akino Kondoh, Sashie Masakatsu, Makoto Aida, Aoyama Satoru, and Tanada Koji to name a few. We were hoping to catch more of Sashie’s work, but like in Pulse Miami (covered), he sold out quickly. Another piece we saw was a beautiful piece by Ai Yamaguchi. The centerpiece of the gallery was a magnificent […]

It seems like Matsu’s a thoroughbred that keeps outpacing the competition. Keeping the momentum from his stunning solo at Joshua Liner Gallery (covered); Tomokazu (Matsu) Matsuyama’s “Runnin II” was named one of the top ten pieces in this this year’s Art Dubai by Emirates Business. The piece was represented by Frey Norris, where he sold out his previous show (covered). Matsu’s beautiful work was recognized as one of the gems of this year’s monster show in the ever growing UAB. And despite the gloomy perceptions about the overall world economy, it appears […]
