Three months since its debut at the Seattle Art Fair (covered), the Juxtapoz x Superflat group show co-curated by Juxtapoz editor, Evan Pricco and Takashi Murakami opened on the November 5th at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Staying on view until February 5th, the programming included a mixture of talks, lectures, tours, and special guests. Last night, Jacob Lewis Gallery held the opening reception for their inaugural show with Hajime Sorayama. A few weeks after announcing his representation, the Chelsea-based gallery revealed his newest body of work featuring his signature Sexy Robots. The 10 new acrylic paintings and one sculpture were created around the idea of re-inventing American icons. In association with his current DY5TOPIA show at Copro Gallery, Chet Zar (interviewed) has released a new print entitled The Meeting. Based on a painting from the exhibition of the same name, the image shows a group of the Los Angeles-based artist’s creepy characters getting together to discuss some secret objective. Tonight in Portland, Antler Gallery will be opening two person show entitled Anthropocene featuring the work of Scott Listfield and Brin Levinson. The title of the exhibition refers to the epoch in Earth’s history where human activity has become the dominant force of change on our planet, something Listfield took to heart as he painted his signature astronaut while thinking about our increasing reliance on technology and decline in the biodiversity on our earth.
