Continuing his long-time collaboration with Galerie Perrotin, Takashi Murakami will be opening a new solo at the three Paris locations tomorrow night (September 10th). Learning the Magic of Painting will be the renowned Japanese artist’s 12th showing in over 20 years with the gallery and will feature over 40 artworks. As part of the Lazarides Gallery 10th Anniversary celebrations, Lazarides Editions studio just released Katrin Fridriks‘ latest print Noble Awakening. The second collaboration between the acclaimed Icelandic artist and her London-based gallery is sort of a follow up to her solo show Macrocosm (covered). Streets: Nuart 2016 (Part II)

With only one day left for artists to finish their works for this year’s Nuart Festival, a lot murals and smaller pieces are getting completed as we’re writing this. Here’s another quick overview of what’s been happening on the streets of Stavanger in the last two days since our last update. Upcoming: Atsuko Goto – “An Empty Idol” @ Lower Akihabara

Tonight (September 9th) in Tokyo, Atsuko Goto will be opening a new solo show at Lower Akihabara. Entitled An Empty Idol, the exhibition includes ethereal mix-media paintings from the locally-based artist featuring her signatures portraiture which draws inspiration from the Shinto religion. The subjects of the Japanese artist’s imagery are in tune with nature with birds, butterflies, flora, and animals nesting and interacting with their hair and faces. Discuss Atsuko Goto here.

Releases: James Jean – “Chang’e” Print

In celebration of another Chinese holiday (also see CNY), James Jean (interviewed) will be releasing a new print for the Mid-Autumn Festival. Entitled Chang’e, the edition will be time limited for 24 hours from 8:00 AM PDT on Thursday, September 15th and ending at 7:59 AM PDT on Friday, September 16th. One of the events that marked the official opening of this year’s Nuart Festival on the 8th of September was the opening of Jeff Gillette’s solo show at Nuart Gallery. For Dismayland Nord, the Detroit-based artist brought his iconic “dismayland” imagery to the idyllic city of Stavanger in Norway. Clare Rojas will be featured soon in a solo entitled The Inexhaustible Middle at Alice Gallery in Brussels starting September 15th. Along with presenting her latest works on canvas and paper, Rojas will perform songs in her “folk-bluegrass” style under the pseudonym of singer-songwriter Peggy Honeywell.
