Previews: ‘Ambiguity’ @ Zimmerling & Jungfleisch

This weekend, Galerie Zimmerling & Jungfleisch brings a well balanced combination of graffiti roots and contemporary abstract art to Saarbrücken in Germany in the guise of group exhibition Ambiguity. Concentrating on four key proponents of the Graffuturism movement; Poesia, Augustine Kofie, Remi Rough and LX One – whose dimensional work is pictured above – the exhibition looks full of promise from some of the hardest working artists in their field. Repping the USA and Europe in equal measure, these four innovators use a dialect that has helped […]

Openings: Travis Louie & Lauren Marx – “Archive of Lost Species” & “American Wilderness” @ Roq la Rue

Earlier this month, Roq la Rue welcomed back Travis Louie for his Archive of Lost Species solo show. Louie’s finely rendered acrylic paintings are once again on display, with his usual recipe of the odd and imaginary. Oscar Pennington and his travels take center stage as he documents strange and wild creatures found around the world. The stories don’t stop with the brush though, as the pieces are accompanied with a short story, and Pennington’s Fish Frog of Burma even includes a diagram detailing the […]

Last week in Downtown Los Angeles, Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed) completed a new installation for the Unispace office. Take a look at more photos below as well as at more info here if interested… Discuss Yoskay Yamamoto here.
