Preview: “Brink” @ Antler Gallery

The master curators at Antler Gallery have brought together 18 artists to not only raise money for the Audubon Society of Portland, but also put on a hell of an art show. One of things that makes Antler such a good gallery is their ability to bring together an exceptional roster of artists, but maintain a very tight, dialed in feel such that each show looks complete and the art looks great together. A contribution of 20% of each piece sold will go to the Audubon […]

Streets: Invader (Africa)

Prolific street artist Invader recently made his way to Africa to spend some time on the Serengeti in Tanzania. While on the Grumeti Game Reserve, the Paris-based tile specialist found it hard to find places (let alone “streets”) to put his signature mosaic pieces, sometimes resorting to taking photos with his work held up. He did find a few choice locations though so far, even doing a quick collabo with Vhils (filmed) who was traveling with him. Keep your eyes on his Instagram for more updates. Discuss Invader […]

Previews: Spazuk – “Récidive” @ Galerie C.O.A

On the 26th of January, Galerie C.O.A in Montral will be opening Récidive, a solo show by the “fire painter” Spazuk. The distinctive technique he uses is called fumage, which allows him to use the flame of a candle or torch as a “paintbrush” to create his paintings with trails of soot. He later manipulates these trails by using various needles, razors, and makeshift bird feather pens, which result in incredibly detailed black and white works on canvas, panel or paper. The softness and fragility of his medium […]
