POW WOW ’13: Finale Block Party @ Lana Lane Studios

On Saturday night, POW WOW 2013 officially closed with a finale block party at their headquarters deep in the Kaka’ako district – Lana Lane Studios. As evidenced by the massive turnout and support, the event has experience tremendous growth in the past year so we can only hope for even bigger and better things for 2014. As this year’s POW WOW draws to a close this weekend, murals that artists have been working on all week are nearing completion. We’ll be bringing you a look at many of these pieces soon, starting first with an epic collaboration between Dabs Myla, 123Klan, Slick, Askew, and Roid. The long wall deep in the Kaka’ako district will add much needed color to the area, and highlights a seamless meshing of styles from these artists hailing from different parts of the world. With POW WOW 2013 in full swing, AM made the rounds yesterday to check out the progress as murals were going up all around the Kakaʻako district in Honolulu. Some of the artists featured at work in this first set of photos include Jeff Soto, Nychos, 123Klan, Angry Woebots, Dabs Myla, Madsteez, Shark Toof, Katch, Slick, and Rone & Wonderlust – who are collaborating on the mural seen above.
