Melbourne-based Lush opens his first UK solo exhibition, You Become What You Hate…, tonight at a warehouse space in London’s Hackney Wick. The show includes installations, sculptures, paintings, sketches, prints, t-shirts and zines. This Saturday night July 7th, the Corey Helford Gallery will be presenting the sexy sci-fi inspired sculptures from Colin Christian and the street-inspired work of RISK with both showings the first solos with the Culver City space. The twelve new pieces from Christian are collectively entitled Hello, Pretty Pretty and see the Tampa-base sculptor reference a wide range of influences including fashion, 60s pop art, and 70s interior design. After recently gifting New York with a mural that remixes a famous Alfred Eisenstaedt photograph (which is also is visible from the High Line), Sao Paulo-based street muralist Eduardo Kobra has travelled to Los Angeles to work on another piece. The commissioned wall is set to be revealed to the public today, Independence Day, at 1255 La Brea Ave. In honor of the holiday, the artist has painted his own version of the iconic Mount Rushmore in Keystone, South Dakota. Openings: Kid Acne – “Stand & Deliver” @ C.A.V.E Gallery

Over the weekend, the C.A.V.E. Gallery hosted the opening reception for Kid Acne’s (interviewed) newest solo entitled Stand & Deliver. The UK-based artist brought a selection of work to the Venice showspace featuring his “stabby women,” some of which was set against a backdrop of a patterned motif seen frequently in his street work. Streets: Escif (Spain)

It looks like Escif was caught up with the Euro 2012 fever that had his home country in its grip as he painted this piece entitled The Rescue leading up to the final. After Spain was crowned the UEFA champion, the street artist turned his attention to more serious topics with a mural (seen below) dealing with the cuts the country has had implement as it becomes increasingly mired in the financial crisis of Europe. Legendary artist David Lynch recently got together with Dom Pérignon for a collaborative project. The American filmmaker, television director, visual artist, musician, and actor designed some limited versions of the Champagne brand’s bottles along with the packaging featuring the theme of flickering lights.
