Preview: “Fresh Cream 2” @ Opus Art

Opus Art in Newcastle opens the second of it’s “Fresh Cream” group shows this Thursday, and we can share with you an image from each of the exciting group of young artists involved. Some names may be familiar to our readers already, such as North-East native Hush (interviewed), and London-based Lex Thomas, who’s small but beautifully rendered classically inspired work intertwined with her pixelated backgrounds we recently saw with Opus at the Scope Fair in Miami during Basel week. Other artists showing in “Fresh Cream […]

Openings: Banksy – “Exit Through The Gift Shop” LA premiere

AM was lucky enough to be able to attend the Los Angeles premiere of Banksy’s “Exit Through The Gift Shop” earlier tonight at the historic Los Angeles Theatre. With the art community on high alert, the cavernous and exquisitely beautiful theater was filled (at least the first floor) with collectors, celebrities, pseudocelebrities, and knowledgeable street art fans. As we guessed in an earlier post, no expense was spared for this important opening with major media outlets on hand to witness the many installations on site […]

Streets: Banksy in LA (Part II)

As we suspected, Banksy wasn’t done with Los Angeles after the first stencil (security guard with Koons dog) he put up yesterday. Seen above is a newly discovered piece in downtown LA that is raising expectations for the special premiere of his documentary tonight in a secret location. As opposed to his premiere in NY (btw, we are giving a poster away in that article), the Bristol Bomber actually appears to be in town for this screening and by not announcing where it will be […]

Todd James Installation @ Bar Miami (O.H.W.O.W)

After Todd “REAS” James opened his show in Paris last year and New York early this year, he turned his attention to Miami where he went to town on OHWOW’s Bar location.  As one of the group artists who will be doing new installs approximately every 2 months, REAS certainly left his mark last month by painting all his classic imagery on all the available wall space. More images after the jump…

Streets: Banksy in LA

As hoped for by Banksy fanantics who are stateside, the elusive street artist has officially landed. With the his documentary, “Exit Through The Gift Shop” premiering in New York (covered), and set to premiere in LA and SF, it was only a matter of time before Mr. B gifted his followers here with some street work (on La Brea & 4th). We’ll have more on the premieres and new stencils as they get up.  Another view after the jump…

Openings: Banksy – “Exit Through the Gift Shop” NYC Screening

On Thursday, AM attended the private screening of Banksy’s much anticipated documentary “Exit Through the Gift Shop in New York City. This early preview was hosted at the pimp Tribeca Grand and was made possible by renowned director Morgan Spurlock (Supersize Me & Where In The World Is Osama bin Laden?) who graciously hosted the screening. (See his collection here). The packed afterparty was hosted by our friends at Wooster Collective (who had a cool part in the actual movie). The film was everything we expected […]
