Streets: Flying Fortress (Frankfurt)

At the end of last month, Montana Cans in Germany hosted a two day event, Just Writing My Name, where graf artists were invited to paint the Friedensbrücke bridge in Frankfurt. Munich-based legend Flying Fortress, who we met at this year’s POW WOW, participated with this long mural featuring “The Hit Collection.” Check out the full wall as well take a look at a video documenting the going-ons after the jump…

It looks like the G40 Art Summit in Richmond, Virginia that we mentioned earlier has kicked off with murals going up at multiple locations around town. Starting things off were Aryz with a massive still-life, ROA with a bird and arrow, Jaz with six lions, Pixel Pancho with two walls in his signature robotic style, and Gaia with his hands and dove. NASA recently released a video they call Perpetual Ocean which tracks all the ocean currents from around the world. Art Focus: Peter Lippmann

For this week’s Art Focus, AM would like to introduce the photography of Peter Lippmann. Although he has produced some wonderful series of work on rotting fruit, destroyed cameras, remixes of master paintings, and more, we will be looking at his Paradise Parking shots. For this particular set of pics, the Paris-based American-born photographer features classic cars parked for the last time and subjected to the unrelenting forces of nature. Streets: London’s largest mural by Agents of Change

With the sun shining and scaffolding removed, wraps have come off London’s largest graffiti mural, covering two sides of a six-storey building in King’s Cross. Members of the Agents of Change crew with London based Remi/Rough, Edinburgh’s Steve More, LX.One from Paris, LA-based Augustine Kofie created this colourful geometrical artwork using over 500 litres of spray paint. The Guggenheim in New York is currently showing a can’t miss retrospective from the late John Chamberlain. The renowned American sculptor, known as the artist who successfully translated Abstract Expressionism into three dimensions, is perhaps most most famous for his crushed car pieces, which are despite the materials – collages. Another weekend, another Streets: World Roundup here on AM. The highlighted mural this time comes from Tahrir Square in Egypt where Sheikh Khan painted one of the barriers that the Egyptian military erected to divide the streets that connect to government power centers. This wall, which was painted to look as if it was never there is one of many that the young artists in the area have painted over (story via Hyperallergic).
