Releases: “Subway Art: 25th Anniversary” @ Black Rat Press

Last night, Black Rat Press held a very special signing with Martha Cooper, Henry Chalfant and Blade for the silver anniversary of “Subway Art.” Considered by many as the “bible” of the graffiti movement, this historic book documents and in many ways glamorizes the graffiti movement in the 80’s NYC street art scene. Os Gemeos are one of the many artists who attributed their start by the seeing works in this book. BRP had a limited edition run of 100 books that contained 2 signed photographs by […]

Art Basel Vernissage – Basel Week Switzerland

Art Basel Switzerland is hands-down the Mecca of the art world. Once a year, the industry’s elite galleries converge in Europe to celebrate and exchange some of the most coveted pieces by the world’s top art stars. This year of course wasn’t much different, although many collectors came to shop for their dream pieces of art and many came in search of bargains. It seems that galleries were recession conscious as they priced their inventory at prices which would entice even the most thrifty art fans. […]

Rounding out our coverage of Culver City’s ARTWALK 2009, we bring you photos from the shows on display at Blum & Poe, Bradford Stewart, Kim Light / Lightbox, Kinsey/DesForges, Koplin Del Rio, LA Contemporary and LeBasse Projects. It was awesome to be able to visit so many galleries and see such a diverse range of great art all in one visit. The only thing we’d change? Culver City should make this a monthly event rather than an annual one. Enjoy the visuals after the jump.

Openings: Slinkachu – “Whatever Happened to the Men of Tomorrow” @ Andipa Gallery

AM brings you coverage from the special preview of his show “Whatever Happened to the Men of Tomorrow” at Andipa Gallery. The UK “street” artist, who first gained fame for his “Little People Project” (photographs of tiny models in the streets of London), named this show after Alan Moore’s similarly named book which explores what happens to […]
