We previously posted a video of the Ed Ruscha exhibition currently on view at Gagosian Gallery in Beverly Hills, but we felt this landmark show deserved much better than that on AM. Showing: Delta – “Subduction Zones” @ Muziekgebouw Concert Hall (Amsterdam)

It looks like Boris Tellegen aka Delta has decided to go big since we last saw his work at the Elms Lester show in 2009. These new large-scale floating sculptural works from the Dutch artist are currently on display at Amsterdam’s Muziekgebouw Concert Hall and are collectively entitled Subduction Zones, placed to welcome the World Minimal Music Festival. David Lynch, best known as a filmmaker and director of such critically acclaimed films as Eraserhead, Mulholland Drive, and Blue Velvet, is also an accomplished visual artist in the mediums of painting and sculpture. In this exhibition, Lynch’s second show with William Griffin Gallery, he continues his unique vision of the narrative of the American psyche. Robert Longo is currently showing at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Paris, and we are completely in awe of his the size, detail, and complexity of these new drawings. The centerpiece of this exhibition, entitled God Machines, is the installation of three large pieces featuring some of holiest places for the world’s largest monotheistic religions – Mecca in Saudi Arabia, St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome and the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. Showing: Miss Van – “Twinkles” @ Magda Danysz (Paris)

Miss Van, one of the feminine figureheads of street art, recently returned to her native France for her first solo showing there in three years. The exhibition, entitled Twinkles, at the Parisian branch of Magda Danysz featured paintings and drawings of her signature enticing “poupes” in various states of undress and costume wearing – with increasingly darker overtones. Slow Your Roll, the first UK solo show by Brooklyn art duo Skewville, launched last Friday at High Roller Society. AM took advantage of the East London gallery’s new Sunday opening hours to visit over the weekend in the calm of a non-preview atmosphere. On the way, we spotted one of Skewville’s recent outdoor pieces, featuring the painted and foam-stamped word “BEEF” aptly done on the shopfront shutter of a local butcher. When AM recently visited Shepard Fairey at his studio in Los Angeles, he also took us on a private tour of Subliminal Project’s latest exhibition Too Fast To Live, Too Young to Die. Camille Rose Garcia took aim at another fairytale a couple weekends ago at Michael Kohn Gallery in Los Angeles with a new body of work based on Snow White, but instead of the seven dwarfs, she brought the whole story into the black lagoon. Like her Alice in Wonderland themed show last year, Camille blended imagery that was consistent in both her repertoire and the well-known tale like apples, poisons, and strange creatures culminating in a fantastic series of new paintings and drawings. We haven’t updated you on the whereabouts and works of Zevs in a while ever since his show and arrest in Hong Kong. It looks like the French street artist is currently showing at De Buck in New York with a new body of work entitled Liquidated Version. Openings: Slinkachu – ‘Concrete Ocean’ @ Andipa Gallery

Last Wednesday 2 March saw the opening of the Slinkachu solo exhibition, Concrete Ocean (initially mentioned by us in January), at London’s Andipa Gallery. There was a refreshingly mixed crowd in attendance, with a number of the regular faces at East End shows having dusted off their passports and made the trek over to Knightsbridge. To the gallery’s credit, the complimentary bar never ran out of alcohol, which helped maintain a cheerful atmosphere throughout the evening. As for the art itself, guest reception was enthusiastic.
