Basel Week Miami ’15 / Previews: Kevin Peterson // Thinkspace @ SCOPE

Along with a couple group shows (covered), Thinkspace will also be hosting mini solos from Kevin Peterson and Alex Yanes at the SCOPE Miami booth. For his part, the Houston-based Peterson has sent a series of paintings to highlight his skills during Basel Week Miami that feature his mix of children, animals, and urban environments. Basel Week Miami ’15 // Previews: Christian Rex van Minnen // Poulsen Gallery @ PULSE

Another artist whose work we’ve been following for some time, Christian Rex van Minnen (featured), will be introducing his newest work during Basel Week Miami. Showing with Gallery Poulsen from Copenhagen, the NY-based artist prepared two large pieces for this event along with other artists represented by the gallery including Aaron Johnson, Mi Ju, Mu Pan, William Powhida, Jean-Pierre Roy, and Nicola Verlato. Some 10 days before the official start of Basel Week Miami in Florida, Copro Gallery has introduced two new works by Jeff Gillette, created exclusively for this occasion. The originator of Dismayland concept (covered), created two paintings influenced by his recent participation in Banksy’s Dismaland (covered). Openings: OFFICIELLE Art Fair (Paris)

After a look at the main FIAC art fair in Paris, we now bring you photos from a satellite event – the OFFICIELLE Art Fair. Recap: FIAC 2015

Over the weekend, the FIAC art fair opened their doors to the public at the Grand Palais in Paris. The 42nd edition of the annual event featured artwork presented by 173 galleries from 23 different countries. Parisians and visitors took advantage of their opportunity to peruse and add to their collections with this being the premiere art event in the country every year. Previews: Bom.K – “L’imprévisible Imaginaire” @ Moniker Art Fair 2015

This year’s Moniker Art Fair 2015 in London will be hosting the premiere UK solo exhibition of Bom.K, organized by MYA gallery. L’imprévisible Imaginaire will include the newest paintings by one of the founding members of the DMV crew. The French artist, who developed a very recognizable style through his outdoor works, has been producing studio works for the last decade. Openings: Beyond Eden 2015

Just this past weekend, the fifth and final edition of Beyond Eden was held at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdall Park. The bulk of the artworks exhibited was seen at booths from C.A.V.E. Gallery (Venice, CA), Copro Gallery (Santa Monica, CA), Spoke Art (San Francisco, CA), Hashimoto Contempoary (San Francisco, CA) and event organizers Thinkspace (Culver City, CA). Also, both Mear One (interviewed) and Meggs had solo showcases hosted by the event and there was live painting from Steven Lopez, Gustavo Rimada, John Park and Joseph Lee on Saturday night. Streets: Titi Freak / Art Rua (Rio de Janeiro)

Last week, as part of the festivities surrounding the fifth annual ArtRua fair, held in the Centro Cultural Ação da Cidadania in Rio de Janeiro, local artists were invited in to paint some large panels for the fairgoers to enjoy. As one of the chosen artists, Titi Freak painted a man posed upside down with his usual style and technique and entitled it “A queda do ego” or “The fall of the ego.” Take a look at more photos below… Discuss Titi Freak here.
