After presenting The Big Easy with her stunning Thalassa installation at the New Orleans Museum of Art in June, Swoon (interviewed) is moving on to her next project. On the occasion of its 75th anniversary, The Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston (ICA) has commissioned the Brooklyn-based artist to create an installation for the Sandra and Gerald Fineberg Art Wall. This past weekend, LACMA celebrated the release of the book, REBUS, by artist James Jean’s (featured). The event began with a discussion in which the LA-based artist went on to explain his background and career as an artist and Giant Robot founder Eric Nakamura (interviewed) was also on hand to expand on James’ work over the years as well as their shared histories. Last week, AM was invited over to visit Jeff Soto (interviewed) in his new studio in Riverside. The multi-purpose complex not only housed his workspace and office but also a tattoo parlor, a clothing line, as well as the office of childhood friend Maxx242. A couple nights ago, the São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP) played host to the opening of De Dentro e De Fora or Inside Out Outside In, seemingly a repeated title for many recent street art exhibitions and videos in some variation or another. After celebrating his 1000th piece placed in the streets with a huge show in Paris, it looks like Invader is continuing onward towards 2000. Take a look at these new pieces in the Brazilian street art mecca of São Paulo. Just this Saturday, the SFMOMA hosted an intriguing posthumous dialogue between Swiss-born Modernist Paul Klee and the very much living Andrew Schoultz (previewed). Images in Dialogue featured new works from the SF-based Schoultz displayed side by side with Klee’s work with the former pieces created in response to the latter’s paintings. When Schoultz was first approached by SFMOMA curator, John Zarobell regarding the project, he was familiar with Klee’s work, but did not consider him direct influence. We haven’t heard much from Armsrock (interviewed) since his light-infused showing in Vienna earlier this year. There’s a good reason for that as the Danish street artist has been focused on building an important new body of work for his show at the Vejle Museum of Art in his native country. The large soulful paintings appear to be some of his best to date and we look forward to seeing the full results of his hard work come the September 3rd opening of The Impossible Society. […]

Take a look at this off-the-wall video as a man takes an interactive stop-motion journey through the Art in the Streets exhibition that recently closed. The film was directed by brothers Mark Osborne and Kent Osborne and was made in collaboration with Levi’s Film Workshop (also see Swoon & Neck Face) and Happy Product.
