Openings: “Space//Squared” @ White Walls Gallery

Last month, White Walls Gallery in San Francisco opened a group exhibition entitled Space//Squared. Curated by Sven Davis, the showing was a followup to an event last year in Portland (covered). This time around, participating artists were again asked to contribute artwork in a 10 x 10″ format. Openings: Franco “Jaz” Fasoli – “Vinculo” @ BC Gallery

Argentinian based artist Franco Fasoli aka JAZ opened a solo show at BC Gallery in Berlin on June 6th. Titled Vinculo, this exhibition is a continuation of the successful collaboration between the gallery and the artist. The paintings created for this show are “defined by the tensions of ambivalence,” and instead of showing his signature anamorphic imagery, are “divided” into animalistic and humanoid ones. Cologne’s Ruttkowski;68 Gallery recently opened a unique gallery show by Danish multidisciplinary talent, Henrik Vibskov. Mostly known as a fashion designer and the mastermind behind his avant-garde fashion label, Vibskov is an acomplished musician, costume and set designer, and an artist. Last weekend, Hashimoto Contemporary in San Francisco opened a new show from Scott Hove entitled Master of Rapacity. Featuring his signature faux cake sculptural works, the exhibition was thematically based on what one would see in the house of a corporate bigwig’s house. Openings: D*Face – “Honestly Dishonest” @ Above Second

During Basel HK week, another major show we hit was from British artist D*Face (interviewed) at Hong Kong’s Above Second Gallery. Presented by Coates & Scarry, the solo entitled Honestly Dishonest featured 18 fresh works focusing on society’s increasing appetite for information. D put together layers of the commercial output which bombard our minds on a daily basis, creating something new and different in and of itself. The sold out show was filled with Basel week attendees and fans. Next, we’ll bring you some of the outdoor murals he created while he was in town. Discuss D*Face here.
