Italian artist Zed 1 recently opened a solo show at the Galo Art Gallery in Turin, Italy, that will be on view until 19th of April. Infusion at Roq la Rue opened on Thursday, March 6th to a packed audience. The show’s goal was to infuse the gallery with talent that had not been seen in the gallery previously. Last week, during Armory Week, Brooklyn-based artist Logan Hicks held a fresh exhibition at PMM Art Projects‘ pop-up location on NYC’s Lower East Side. We last caught up with Mel Kadel back in 2012 when she presented a solo show at the Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Los Angeles. Armory Week ’14: Volta

One of the satellite fairs we visited first during New York’s Armory Week is Volta. This unique event does not showcase a sampling of a diverse roster of artists like most booths, but instead the invited gallerists select one artist to focus on. Last month, the Breeze Block Gallery in Portland hosted a two person show from Erin Murray & Tristram Lansdowne (interviewed) entitled Order of Operations. Although the two artists’ imagery are worlds apart, a common theme of appreciation for architectural forms runs throughout their work – Lansdowne with his unnatural blending of natural landscapes and structures (although not as evident in this body of work) and Murray with her intriguing renderings on shaped canvases. Scott Campbell’s second showing with Galerie Gmurzynska’s St. Moritz (Via Serias) location recently opened, giving his fans in Switzerland a chance to admire a diverse range of works. The Smartest Thing I Ever Did Were Foolish Things For Love is dedicated to the theme of love, no doubt inspired by his recent marriage. Paintings, sculptures, cut currency works, as well as “fuse paintings,” which are created by drawing with gunpowder and then ignited, fill the space with examples of the Brooklyn-based artist’s recent creative output and “love statements.” […]
