Last weekend, deep in the heart of Los Angeles, the Known Gallery unveiled the latest work from the locally based duo, Dabs Myla. Break Night Lovers featured drawings, paintings, art objects, and a whimsical installation mimicking the inside of house complete with a fridge, painted stove, TV, table, chairs, and more. Openings: Ryan McGinley – “Animals” @ Team Gallery NY

Last week, photographer Ryan McGinley opened shows simultaneously at Team Gallery’s two New York locations entitled Animals & Grids. We will focus first on the showing on Grand Street where McGinley continued his portraiture featuring nude models interacting with live animals. The artist visited various sanctuaries, zoos, and rescue establishments across the United States, erecting a mobile studio where he collaborated with animal trainers to pose subjects (animal and humans) in bizarrely seductive and symbiotic compositions. Openings: Tomokazu Matsuyama – “The Future is Always Bright” @ Frey Norris

Along with his current museum exhibition running at the Katzen Arts Center of the American University Museum in Washington DC (covered), Frey Norris unveiled the latest works from Tomokazu Matsuyama in a show entitled, The Future is Always Bright (previewed). The show consisted of sculptures and a mixture of small and large paintings done on amorphous and round-shaped canvases.
