Previews: Jaime Molina & Adrian Landon Brooks @ Andenken gallery

Amsterdam’s Andenken Gallery is making final preparations for TWO solo shows opening on June 11th – Jaime Molina will be presenting a new body of work titled Desolation Slang, and Adrian Landon Brooks will introduce Miracle Worker. Upcoming: Nychos – “Ikon” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

Coming up on June 25th, a new solo from Austrian artist Nychos will be opening at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Mirroring his works on the street, Ikon will features a series of paintings with his recognizable cartoonish dissected imagery. From the glimpses revealed on his Instagram, it looks like he will take aim at pop culture icons like Yoda, Darth Vader, Goofy, Knight Rider, Barbie, and Marilyn Monroe. Discuss Nychos here.

Streets: JR @ The Louvre (Part I)

Over the last week, JR (interviewed) has been working on his latest high profile project – painting the iconic pyramid at the Louvre. Studio Visits: Greg Simkins – “Beyond Shadows” @ KP Projects // MKG & Launch LA

Leading up to his show opening tomorrow night at KP Projects // MKG, we had a chance to take a peek at Greg “Craola” Simkins (featured) prepping for the show in his studio. Entitled Beyond Shadows, the new solo will include detailed works focused on his surreal characters, some “drip script” pieces, and some new paintings of his favorite switchblade Stab E. Mack. Damien Hirst’s Newport Street Gallery just opened Now, a solo from American artist Jeff Koons. While the Parisian institution Centre Pompidou dedicated a major retrospective to the the artist in 2015 in Paris (covered), this new showing is the first major UK exhibition to be devoted to Koons since the Serpentine Gallery’s 2009 show, Jeff Koons: Popeye Series. Releases: James Jean – “Melon” Print

Next week, James Jean (interviewed) will be releasing a new print off his website in a time-limited manner, making it available for 12 hours starting at 8:00 AM PDT on Wednesday, May 25th and ending at 7:59 PM PDT. Melon was created to celebrate summer and will be sized at 27″ x 20″ (image size 24″ x 18″) with the price set at $200.
