Dutch artist, designer and illustrator, Parra, will be opening his first solo show in Belgium on the 28th of May at Alice gallery in Brussels. Salut will be his first show since the opening of his 10 year retrospective show at Kunsthal Rotterdam. On Saturday, May 16th, Herakut and aptART opened an exclusive show at the studio and work space of Urban Nation in Berlin, presenting a collection of paintings, photographs and installations created both by German art duo and individuals & organizations across the Middle East, Europe and Africa. After recently showing at the 5th Year Anniversary of Graffuturism (covered here), the French-born and Berlin-based artist BLO from Da Mental Vaporz crew is having a solo exhibition at Swinton & Grant Gallery in Madrid opening this weekend. After sharing some in-progress shots of the murals going up at the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts in association with the Samurai! show (co-curated by Eric Nakamura, editor and founder of Giant Robot Magazine), we now have a look at the finished walls. Audrey Kawasaki took the high road painting one of her beauties on the second floor balcony of the Lancaster Lobby while Mari Inukai went underneath her, also making a play on the Japanese-themed exhibition with her imagery. On Saturday, May 23rd, Thinkspace will be opening a solo show from Ariel DeAndrea entitled Chasing the Current. Her subject matter of choice for her oil paintings are paper cranes floating in bodies of water, referenced from photos she takes herself and derived from her origami skills (you can get a good idea of her process in the video below).
