Streets: DALeast (Poland)

Continuing his assault on walls around the world, DALeast (interviewed) continued to paint his creatures that appear at home in their urban environment. Ed Templeton recently released his latest photography book titled Wayward Cognitions, published by Thomas Campbell’s Um Yeah Arts, showing 20 years worth of capturing street life in it’s purest, rawest form. Starting on October 30th, Yves Laroche in Montreal will be hosting a massive group exhibition entitled Égrégore. The term refers to a kind of group mind which is created when people consciously come together for a common purpose and was used in relation to the Montreal Surrealists, best known as Les Automatistes in the 40s. Openings: Wayne White – “Invisible Ruler” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

On September 11th, AM attended the solo from Los Angeles-based artist Wayne White at New York’s Joshua Liner Gallery. Entitled Invisible Ruler, the new body of work includes his signature word paintings showing alongside a series on paper he created during a residency at the Rauschenberg Foundation. Completing the exhibition was a group of 15 foot kinetic sculptures, hand constructed from cardboard, highlighting his talents from a time back when he worked on production design for Pee-wee’s Playhouse from which he has won three Emmy Awards. Openings: Usugrow – “Inkflow” @ Fifty24SF

Over the weekend, Fifty24SF hosted the opening for Usugrow’s new solo up in the Bay Area. Featuring his calligraphy on the walls as well in the pieces for sale, Inkflow marks his return to the San Francisco art scene after showing there in 2007 and participating in a group show with his Shinganist crew back in 2009 (covered).
