AM was at Tony’s Gallery in Shoreditch on Thursday to see the first UK solo show by Olek (set-up and teaser photos here). The New York-based artist has been making the most of her extended London visit, transforming the ground floor of the gallery into a domestic setting filled with crocheted furniture and other household items. Teaser: Kris Kuksi – “Triumph” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

In about a month, post-industrial Rococo master Kris Kuksi will be bringing his dark and intricate assemblages to New York for his latest solo exhibition. Entitled Triumph, the return showing (last time was in 2009 not counting art fairs) at the Joshua Liner Gallery will include the piece seen above, The Surrender of Helios. Showing: “Conjoined II” @ Copro Gallery

Conjoined II, a followup to last year’s successful debut as a group show, recently opened at the Copro Gallery in Santa Monica. Once again, Chet Zar’s (interviewed) was tapped to bring together a selection of sculptural work from his friends and peers, which mostly focused on objects of the bizarre, fantastic, and surreal. Perhaps the pieces that received the most attention were these two eerie 3D renderings by Kevin Kirkpatrick of Beavis and Butt-head. More photos by Richard Brooks for Arrested Motion after the jump…

We are AM are pretty excited about the prospects of attending David Shrigley’s first major survey exhibition in the UK, entitled Brain Activity, opening this Wednesday at the Hayward Gallery in London. Ron English – Barack Obama x Hulk & Fat Tony Sculpt

Playing to his strengths of appropriating pop culture for his own unique creations, Ron English (featured) has recently revealed two projects he has been working on. The first is the melding of Barack Obama and The Incredible Hulk into one amazing sculpt although we aren’t quite sure what the message is. Releases: Amy Sol – “Water Dragon” Print

Amy Sol (interviewed), who has a Los Angeles solo coming up in March, is also releasing a new print appropriately in this new year of the dragon. The image, Water Dragon, is from a piece she did for the the New Moon group exhibition early last year and will be reincarnated as a limited edition giclee (edition 50) scheduled for release tomorrow, January 28th, at 2pm pacific time in her online store. After a showing in Amsterdam last November, LUDO (interviewed) continues his exploration of his Nature’s Revenge theme with a new exhibition in Rome. Opening its doors to a new body of work last weekend, Wunderkammern Gallery was taken over by the Parisian street artist’s vengeful creatures in the form of his ad interventions, sculptures, paper pieces, and pastes over found objects. Over the weekend, the Affordable Art Fair opened Los Angeles including a booth for one of the galleries exhibiting work – Thinkspace Gallery.
