Last Saturday night, AM stopped by the Corey Helford to attend the opening of “Keepers of Creation”, the new body of work from Ohio-based Melissa Forman. Her paintings impressed with their detail, use of light, and composition, filling the lower level of the space of the gallery with her female portraiture set in and interacting with the natural world. We recently showed you images of Shepard Fairey down in Miami installing his mural inside this year’s Wynwood Walls cafe (covered). Well, more images have just surfaced from the Wynwood Walls project, courtesy of legendary street photographer Martha Cooper. It looks like Elbow-Toe’s (interviewed) work was recently featured in the Fall Fashion issue of Paper Magazine. You’ll be seeing that image, entitled “Sweet Dreams” again as it will be featured in his upcoming show at the Warrington Museum in the UK. Opening: DZINE – “Voodoo” @ Leo Koenig Projekte

Chicago-based artist Dzine recently opened a solo show entitled “Voodoo” at NY’s Leo Koenig Projekte. The inspiration for this current body of work came from the Dutch Caribbean island of Curaçao, during Dzine’s residency at the Instituto Buena Bista, Curaçao’s Center for Contemporary Art. While there, he stumbled upon Swaybar, a unique aspect of the island’s popular culture in which youth create custom elongated bicycles as both transportation and status symbols.
