Previews: “Miyazaki Art Show” @ Spoke Art (San Francisco)

On February 4th, Spoke Art’s San Francisco location will be hosting a group show celebrating the films of Japanese film-maker and animator Hayao Miyazaki. Over fifty artists will be contributing works inspired by the Studio Ghibli director’s classic films such as My Neighbor Totoro (seen in the artwork above by Monica Garwood). Showing: Patrick Martinez – “All Season Portfolio” @ Charlie James Gallery

Currently at Charlie James Gallery in Los Angeles, Patrick Martinez has a new versatile body of work on display entitled All Season Portfolio. The new pieces presented range from his signature hip hop influenced (now with socially conscious slogans) neon signage to his newer series satirizing Pee Chee Portfolios of our youth, oftentimes replacing the athletes with victims and imagery of police brutality, Take a look at more photos from the exhibition below and visit for yourself before it closes on February 18th. Previews: “Psychological Realism” @ Booth Gallery

The first exhibition of the 2017 for Booth Gallery will be a group exhibition entitled Psychological Realism. Opening tomorrow night (January 21st), the show will explore the intricacies of identity through the eyes of Sergio Barrale, Daniel Bilodeau, Rune Christensen, Jesse Draxler, Erik Jones, Maria Kreyn, Adam Miller, Jean-Paul Mallozzi, David McLeod, Henrik Uldalen, and Jonathan Viner. Seen above is a something from McLeod as he ups the ante on his paint on glass works by utilizing multiple overlapping planes of glass.

Miss Van opens a new exhibition next week entitled Flor de Piel at Victor Lope Arte Comptemporáneo in Barcelona. Releases: Jeremy Geddes – “FALL” Print

Starting on January 23rd, 9am Melbourne time, Jeremy Geddes (interviewed) will be offering up a timed release print for only 24 hours. Entitled FALL, the image features another one of the Australian painter’s iconic floating astronauts. The edition size will depend on the number of people ordering it in the 24 hour period of time and will not be sold again. Releases: Ernest Zacharevic – “Splash and Burn” Lithograph

Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic just announced he will be releasing his self-produced limited edition Splash and Burn on the 20th of January at 3pm GMT via ErnestZacharevic.com. This 11 layer lithograph was produced at the Idem Studio in Paris and each print has been hand finished by the artist. Preview: Carl Krull – “Sediment” @ Format Artspace

On Friday, the 20th of January, Format Artspace in Copenhagen will be opening a new exhibition by Carl Krull. Exclusively focused on five series of hand pulled silk-screen prints, Sediment will include new works that for first time in years include colors. Through his simple and unique visual language, the Danish artist manages to get his images from the two-dimensional surface of the paper.
