Preview/Studio Visit: SABER – “The American Graffiti Artist” – Flags

When Jeffrey Deitch first publicly hinted last summer of his intention to mount the first ever large-scale major museum exhibition of graffiti and street art, the first artist that came to his mind as the representational figure for today’s movement was SABER (interviewed).  Art in the Streets became a reality at MOCA and true indeed, SABER is a integral part of the massive and wildly successful exhibition.  Flexing his multitasking skills to its fullest, the LA-based artist will also be displaying his work in Street […]

Preview: “Blankness Is Not A Void” @ Marc Jancou Contemporary

Tonight in New York City, Marc Jancou Contemporary opens a compelling three person exhibition, entitled Blankness Is Not A Void. Including works from Scott Campbell, Raymond Pettibon, and Steven Parrino, the trio of artists examine the everpresent themes of love, sex, and death in their own unique and unconventional ways. A selection of the late Parrino’s drawings and mixed media works anchor an extensive collection of Pettibon’s 1980s ink works on paper as well as a new series of Campbell’s cut currency works, who appears […]

With a relationship first spawned during The Armory Show earlier this year (covered), Matthew Palladino will continue to strengthen the newly formed partnership with New York’s Fredericks & Freiser next week. Previews: ‘Modern Fabulists’ @ View Gallery, Bristol

Coming to Bristol this week is Modern Fabulists – a group exhibition curated by our friends Chippy Coates and Richard Scarry, aka Coates & Scarry. You’ll know Richard as being the director of Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles, who of course curated the 2010 Art from the New World exhibition at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery. View Gallery hosts Modern Fabulists, which as the title suggests, thematically deals with folkloric storytelling though the eyes and minds of contemporary artists. Expect some narrative heavy work […]
