2010 looked to be a light year for the Brooklyn collective known as Faile (featured). Initially it was just a simple show at a “little gallery” known as Gagosian. Then in Feburary, a hand crafted arcade experience popped up in London. By Spring they created a new arcade show in NYC. Summer brought them to PortugalArte ‘10 where they installed an iconic “temple” in vintage Faile fashion. Preview: Ryan McGinley – “Life Adjustment Center” @ Ratio 3

In a continuation of the two themes displayed at London’s Frieze Art Fair (covered) this month, Ryan McGinley is set to reveal his newest collection of luminous photographs with Ratio 3, his second solo endeavor with the San Francisco gallery. Opening this Friday, Life Adjustment Center (teased) will juxtapose two distinctly disparate, yet immediately recognizable bodies of work. Continue after the jump.

AM has been keeping an eye on artist Will Barras for some time now and we’re excited to see he has an upcoming show entitled “Bad Reception” at London’s StolenSpace. Will’s use of fluid motion in combination with urban techniques create striking works that blur the line between the abstract and the real. Dan Baldwin (interviewed) has been keeping busy since AM last caught up with him at his London solo show with Signal Gallery. This Thursday, October 28th, sees the artist open his latest series of works at Ink_d Gallery in Brighton. Simply entitled “Works on Paper”, this exhibition collects together a series of 12 new works plus a series of 10 screen-prints with individually worked 3D elements. The Whitney Museum will be holding an exhibition to feature Edward Hopper and many of his contemporary peers from 1900-1940. Focusing on this period of time when massive changes were occurring in America, artists such as Ed captured the sweeping transformation across the nation in both rural and urban areas. In case you’re wondering who else is a fan, maybe you’ll remember Banksy taking a page out of Hopper’s famous “Night Hawks” (here). This show opens October 28th. Check out a preview after the jump.

Opening next month, “Myth of the American Motorcycle” at the Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati (previously the site of the Shepard Fairey retrospective) will feature the vibrant paintings of Rosson Crow (featured). As we mentioned in out teaser last week, Dorothy Circus will be hosting a new body of work from Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed) on October 29th. The show entitled “Incubi Celesti” or “Heavenly Nightmares” is a fitting name for these new paintings. Although there is always something delicate and beautiful about Nicoletta’s work, each of these new pieces has some darker aspects to them when you look closer.
