AM stopped by Gallery 1988 in LA a couple days ago to attend the Travis Louieâ€™s (interviewed) book signing. His book “Curiosities,” released by Baby Tattoo Books & Galley 1988, chronicles his paintings from the last several years and of course, the stories that go along with it. AM has just received news of a special event taking place at Lazarides’ Greek Street Shop on Friday, July 31st. To mark the closure of “Scratching The Surface”,Â Vhils’ successful solo exhibition at Lazarides Rathbone place (covered here and here), a special limited edition book of the same name will be released, as well as three Laz-exclusive hand-finished prints. When AM visited Dave Kinsey at his studio a while back, he gave us a heads up on some upcoming projects that he was involved in. One in particular that stood out was a painting he was working on for the upcoming Sea No Evil benefit for the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (They do Whale Wars). Come and get it, fresh off the line. Banksy is serving up “Donuts!” There has been much speculation on when Banksy was going to release a print from hisÂ recent Bristol Museum show (covered). Well, the wait is over cuz “Donuts” are served! Banksy is releasing a new print online through Pictures On Walls. There will be two “flavours,” eachÂ with a different glaze color (pink or chocolate). Releases: Dave Kinsey Ceramic Plate

Looks like Studiocromie is getting ready to release this beautiful screen-printed ceramic plate by Dave Kinsey. These will be a limited edition and will cost about 220 euros. This should not come as a surprise as the FAME Festival this year, also put on by Studiocromie, is encouraging artists to work with ceramics as well.Â Take a look at the signature on the back of the plate as well as a picture of the ceramic workshop after the jump…

Shepard Fairey Works a Plea in Boston

After a five month ordeal with Boston authorities, Shepard Faireyâ€™s latest drama has finally come to an end. Shepard, who was arrested on January 22 at the ICA (reported), was initially charged with over 30 counts of vandalism, tagging and destruction of property. Between April and June, the courts threw out over 21 of the charges against Shepard. This past Friday, Fairey consented to a plea deal that will dismiss the remaining 11 vandalism charges. Releases: James Jean’s “Kindling” Book – San Diego Comic-Con

A limited number of advance copies of James Jean’s (interviewed) book featuring work from his NYC solo show will be released at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Published by Chronicle Books, “Kindling” presents 12 of James’ visual mix of abstract and illustrative works from the show, along with his detailed preliminary sketch for the work on the reverse side, printed in a removable large poster format.
