High fashion and fine art was exhibited in a seamless mix as James Jean unveiled his Birds and Boys series at 3.1 Phillip Lim during Fashion’s Night Out in West Hollywood. Jean’s fantastically cool portraits of the famous and the beautiful of Los Angeles were hung throughout the store, occupying the same racks as Lim’s elegantly designed threads. Aiko Nakagawa, who we have seen do some work in China before, returns again to the Middle Kingdom next month. The New York based artist will be bringing a new body of work entitled “Here’s Fun For Everyone” to the Shanghai, the site of some of the street pieces she put up last year. Dan Quintana, whom we last saw show at Copro Gallery in January, is opening a new exhibition at the Last Rites Gallery in New York this weekend. The new body of work entitled “Ethos Astry” will be sure to include Quintana’s beautiful women, often masked in elaborate headdresses with a grotesque twist. Something next month that has been kinda creeping up on everyone is Shepard Fairey’s show at Subliminal Projects. You can be sure we’ll have something more about the exhibition in a little bit but first, we wanted to share with you that Modern Multiples has been working hard helping Shep get ready – including starting production on the new “Dark Wave” edition.
